Didn't know there were so many other Christians (and younger Christian woman) here who had permits and owned guns too. I have not gone shooting in years but still have my trusty 357Mag. And when I've traveled alone., it's been with me along with my trusty GS dog.

They say the number one thing criminals fear most is getting eaten by a big dog. I suppose you're squared away!

I live with corgis, so unless said criminals have a deference to the British Crown, I'm up a creek :p

My puppies are the first line of defense here at home. I hope to be able to always have a gentle giant with me.

My problem is I'll likely get a beagle as my first dog. I love those suckers, but they are not imposing at all.

Well, I guess the "Bawooo" combined with an aggressive "WHAT IS IT, BOY?!" will do.

I've got the alarm covered. My Dad's dog is 1/2 Tibetan Mastiff and 1/2 bloodhound. The hound comes out when it needs to. Supposing anyone could get past him and his 160 pound mass, then they get to meet my Doberman. LOL. ...and then they get to meet me, and if I'm off my chain, then things are going to get interesting.

lady lynn.... good choices on BOTH counts. A german shepherd is a very intimidating dog.. unlike my Yorkie... and if the dog isn't enough... the .357 mag will "git er done"...

They are quite loud, though..

That dog weighs about as much as I do. Yeah, I'm staying away.

Yes hornetguy, I agree. Some years back I was given the .357 mag and it has a short barrel. The one who gifted it to me said it looked more "ladylike" But wow these things are very loud you are right., and they have a kick when you shoot them. Although it has been some years since I've shot it., I remember that kick so well. When we target practiced off our back porch, we always wore ear protection. Living out in the country had it's benefits!! One year during hunting season, my husband shot a deer from the back porch.

And the GS doggy., he is awesome but should a criminal get close to him., they will see how sweet he is while he tries to give a kiss. So different than the female GS we had in our family since they were allll Alpha females. This male GS that I have now is not an alpha male.

He is an excellent companion and watch dog and has an ominous deep growl (when he sees a cat out the window although he loves our house cats as friends) seeing a strange cat makes him want to chase. All is not as it seems.
:)

I've heard the criminals change their minds when they hear any kind of dog barking who lives in a home. That the dog itself is a deterrent to house burglaries. So the stats seem to say your Yorkie will do the job!! Dogs are a direct blessing from God imo.

They are really sweet animals. I love mine even though they are loud and pretty dim.

Those Mastiffs are HUGE. I worked for a lady who raised and sold them. They are gentle giants too. Don't have much experience with Dobermans but have heard they are very smart. But after the experience I've had with my GS it's hard to believe stats sometimes about dogs. Am so glad the stats are not always true.

Generally you can tell what a dog will be like when they are pups. Got my dog when he was already 6 months old and it was him or his bigger brother. The brother was stubborn and difficult to walk on a lead and wouldn't look at me., but the dog I picked was sweet and eager to please and kept watching me. I knew he was the one.

Yep. There is some debate as to their geographic origins (some say Belgium, others Sweeden), but they really caught on in Wales.

The reason being? Great cattle dogs. They have almost hyper-active situational awareness, and they are situated low to the ground. Ideal qualities for avoiding kicks while nipping at the heels of substantially larger animals. :p

It's the mustache, doncha know? :D
No doubt. I've heard that women actually prefer facial hair on a guy because it gives the impression of them being more masculine and virile. As much as they might complain about being tickled when being kissed, they really dig the beards and mustaches.

Yes, it's that, but he also has the "persona" of a cowboy down.. relaxed, don't take any crap off anyone... he knows all the right phrases, and expressions... he just "is" a cowboy.

Others can't pull it off..... Yul Brynner tried to be a cowboy in some movie, and failed miserably..
