Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and tear you. Thanks

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you" (Matthew 7:6)

'
Not everybody will receive instruction (Proverbs 1:7; 15:5, and 32). We need godly wisdom to judge who is receptive and who is not. When we perceive people who are scorning our witness, we should heed the advice of this scripture and Proverbs 9:7-8 lest they mock the things of God and then turn on us.' (Matthew 7:6 - Andrew Wommack Ministries) :)

Pigs were rejected by Jews and they were unclean according to OT law. Pearls symbolize the great value of the message of the kingdom of heaven.

I see it like this:

Believers should wisely discern the true character of people and not continue to proclaim the gospel to those who adamantly reject it, so that they can move on and proclaim the gospel to others who will receive it.

Is the term dogs everlasting on the person or temporary ?

What would you have called Paul before he was converted ?

I like this.

I would like to add that when we post to CC with truth we find after prayer and every scripture about something, we can expect it to be rejected by some. Sometime the rejection is in the form of "that scripture is not for us, it is only for someone else" or "Christ got rid of that scripture". All sorts of excuses. We aren't to take personal offense, but there are people of wisdom on here to discuss scripture with so we can learn from their wisdom. And perhaps God has given us wisdom to share. People who judge and condemn only are to be expected, Christians shouldn't let it chase them away from sharing.

My take on this passage is that if the unbeliever is not receptive to the gospel don't waste your time trying to teach him Bible doctrine that goes beyond this. He's negative to the Word of God and the convicting ministry of the Holy Spirit so he will ridicule and reject anything else from the scriptures.

The same goes for believers too I reckon :) Especially when talking about spiritual things.
