If you swear an oath to God and ask for forgiveness, do you still have to keep it?

I know it's wrong to swear, but I think I have OCD. I don't think I've actually sworn oaths, but I want to know just in case.

We don't "have" to do anything. Let me quote The Bible. "Everything is permissible, but not everything is helpful. Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up."

If you are unable to keep your vow, The Lord will forgive you. You are still young, and God knows young folks are a little impetuous. :)

But it is a good lesson for the future that you can learn from. Another Bible verse: "
It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it." So you can learn from this, and go on from here.

May The Lord bless you, and fill you with His Holy Spirit. -JIM

Bible says 'let your yes be yes and your no be no' and not to swear such oaths to begin with. its a pretty common thing anymore, to speak like that. "i swear on a stack of bibles i didn't eat all the cookies". Or the courts swearing people in on a bible, which is ironic since the bible says not to. But oaths are pretty binding.
But really, i'm not understanding the question fully. Swear an oath to God and ask forgiveness? Forgiveness for what? And what oath are you swearing to? Need to clarify.
