Drinking from the wrong side of a glass works for me, I am not sure if it is the act itself or the coughing and spluttering when it goes up ya nose.............

I have never cured my case of random hicups.

But when I was a child I decided that it would be impossible to sneeze and hic-up at the same time...
So I played in some hay, which I am highly allergic too... And found out, It doesn't stop the hic-ups they just take turns like a Tag team...

My father used to think scaring cured them... I think that was just for his own amusement...

Never tried doing a handstand. Being one who stays on my computer 24/7 I don't have enough upper body strength to do one

EDIT!!!!!!!!!

My grandmother a few months ago was talking to me while I had them. and she said "Tony why would you say that to your father?"
I was puzzled and asked "what did I say?"
She said "You know what you said". In the most disciplined voice....
I was even more puzzled and went "Grandma I don't know what your talking about!"
She said "Tony don't lie to me its bad enough you would say that to your father."
Then I said "Grandma what are you talking about!"
As she replied "Cured your hic-ups didn't I?"

So getting someone mad confused and worried at the same time is the cure

Apparently that is a old trick back up in Michigan... I don't know LOL

when our kids were little our oldest would say, "dad I have the pick-ups" meaning hick ups, so my husband would pick him up, flip him upside down, shake em, and the hick ups would be gone.
My hubby is 6'5 :)

Your question reminds me of something that happened to me quite a few years back.

I had a real bad case of the hic-ups that was going on for the third day. Everyone was giving me remedies to a sure fix cure like breathing in a bag to standing on your head and drinking a glass of water all of which ended with my hic-ups returning.

I went with my brother-in-law over to a friend of his. This was my second visit there.
As I was sitting there still suffering from the hic-ups going on my third day frustrated cause I couldn‘t hardly say ten words without them:( , my brother-in-law and his friend walked out of the room leaving me there with his friends wife. As we continued in our conservation she suddenly changed the subject and stated, “I remember you now. You were here last weekend, and I think you took it!” I replied, “I’m not sure what you are talking about. Would you care to tell me what you think I took?” To which she replied, “There was some money on the coffee table the last time you were here. And I think you took it?"
I was in shock:eek: for I knew the last time I was there I did see some money on the coffee table and I knew I didn’t steal it. As I was defending my character that I was no thief and something else must have happened to their money her look changed and she got a smile on her face and she said, “worked didn’t it?” I said “what??? What are you talking about???” I’m thinking one minute I’m being accused of being a thief and now she’s saying “worked didn’t it? and all smiley and friendly toward me again. Being really confused at this point I asked “what worked?“ To which she replied, “ your hic-ups are gone aren’t they?” And sure enough the hic-ups were finally gone after 3 miserable days.:)

I don’t know if her method is a consistent remedy but it was definitely unique!
