Sometimes. For sore throat I try warm salt water gargles. Apparently, the salt is supposed to act as a dehydrator to kill the bacteria. It's kind of debatable but it I think it works.:) I also try antiseptic mouthwash and it works wonders.
Note: This should not be used as a substitute for seeking medical intervention as it may be a more serious illness.

Most doctors will recommend gargling warm salt water for a throat infection. It draws out the toxins and helps you heal faster.

Some home remedies work but I STRONGLY urge people who are pursuing them to do their research first and make sure there's anything in medical science that supports such treatments. Some of them do work or at least help, but other times there's no proof that they actually work.

I'd say see a doctor first but being one of many who doesn't have the money for health insurance and can't afford to pay out their backside for a dr.'s appointment, I can understand looking for alternatives.

Some home remedies just requires a change of diet.
My husband was always sick between one to two weeks every two months; vomiting bile & fatigue. The doctors just prescribed medication which he could not take because during that time he was too sick to eat, let alone swallow tablets.
I was tired of seeing him like that so I changed his diet - lots & lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh juices. No dairy products and wheat. I introduced them back in later but little at a time. For 2 years now- my husband has not been sick.

a home remedy that i found that works, but do not know why it works is this:

To get rid of ants in your house, drop cucumber peels behind drawers, in cabinets, under sink, behind stove, behind refrigerator, and i also put them around the house, within a week or so, no more ants in the house. i don't know why it works, but it does work.

If you have toothache, hit your foot with a hammer. You will notice the pain in your tooth less.

I believe that home remedies should be used for all illnesses, while at the same time listening to the doctor. Most medications have negative side effects, and doctors need to explain them to us when we take them. For instance, my wonderful doctor told me it would be beneficial for me to take a certain medication, but he also said he thinks of that medication as zombie pills. He and I decided that for me, it was best I just not take that medication.

We need to know how and why our food affects our health so we can best cope. God created our bodies to best use the food supply He created, but most foods have been changed so our bodies and the food now don’t match. Antibiotics destroy the flora in the intestines, have to learn how to cope with that. Milk has been changed from how God created it. When God created us and chickens for our food, it was not how they are treated now.

Just like everything, moderation is the key word. Too many vitamins in pill form overloads the kidneys. Some are destructive. If you take just a pinch of Vitamin C powder in water you sip all through the day you would never have bladder infection and it does wonders in all prevention. My powder has 5,000 MG per teas, the body uses 90 MG a day, the kidneys handle the rest.
