how do you talk to someone that won't listen?

Have you considered that the best way to actively engage anyone in conversation might be to talk about what they are most interested in.... and that is often, themselves?

BTW, did you know that asking questions is far more effective than making statements?

OK! Now seriouosly: What is it you want him to listen to? If it is something "public", let´s imagine the scenario he doesn´t like your approach.

What is it you have to say, your mother can´t say for herself? (Again, if nothing too private)

At least do not show your are frustrated. Do not let him "know" you are near to give in or giving up.

Keep on pushing but GET YOUR MOM´s HELP (and family help).

Don´t do that alone, please!

Exactly....make people feel significant and they will be your friend....make people your friend and they will listen to you.
