i understand the love thy neighbor as thyself but it's a very hard thing to do on a daily basis in the work place especially when i do my best to get along with everyone , i bring treats , if people are hungry i offer to buy them something (when i have extra money)or share my lunch, i help people with their work often times my kindness is taken as a weakness, and usually people don't offer to help you when your running behind with your work but i help them..these are the same people that have one way or the other try their best to hinder my progress at work, they are constantly bad mouthing me and as usual it gets back to me, but when i come around they are smiling in my face and to make matters worse the supervisor who is a Christian plays favorites with the ones who sit around talking with her in her office, hiding not doing their work , sitting or walking around on their cell phones. on the days when i'm supposed to do another job one of the females will call out or come to work really late knowing that if it's not enough coverage i'm stuck doing something else, i try my best to be positive and to be a good Christian and i LOVE MY JOB . i pray all the time and the second my feet hit the parking lot i pray , when inside the building i pray, i even put them in my prayers by name. my job is not the problem because i love what i do
there were times when i have gone out of my way and cleaned up their mess to avoid them getting written up, suspended or worse and they don't even know it

i have to be honest yes there are times when it does hurt especially when i treat them all nice and yes everyone knows i am a Christian

what as a Christian are you supposed to do in situations like this when your up against Christians /non believers, or just the negative element ??

Well i was once told my faith was weakness, and it's very hard to be kind on a stressful place such as yours. Honestly if you can i would suggest going to a different place to work, same job but different company or something. But if not do your best to keep strong, but also you need a peace of heart or else the stress will kill you inside. What would Jesus have done in your situation? Honestly i think he would have had compassion on them even through all they are doing, but then again we are only human..... I guess for now strive to be a mirror image of Jesus you know?

I would let them feel the consequences of NOT working. you are not really helping by doing their work for them. you are letting them be lazy and it is spiritually hurtful for them. yes the WORK gets done, but THEY don't feel sorry for being slothful and sinful.....God chastens and corrects those He loves, we should do the same if we truly love them. ......You are enabling people to be users and abusers of others. There are consequences for a reason.

I know it is very hard to show love to those who don't show it back or who even do wrong things to you, but I really admire your heart and deeds. :) We should be selfless how Jesus was. He certainly could've chosen to be totally different to those who did wrong to him, but he set an example of how we should be. He did things like wash the feet of his disciples, even Judas who he knew would betray him (John 13) He told us things like "love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked." (Luke 6:35). I think you're doing a great job =] Especially when we live in an "it's all about me" society and "what about my rights" type of world. Paul had a good mindset by saying "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."(Phil 2:3-4) and he uses Jesus as the model for what he was saying in Philippians 2:5-11: "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Again, I know it's hard to put up with people who are rude or to not let things get to you when you are in a negative environment, but just try to keep Christ on your mind by meditating on His word as much as it is possible and do all things for him, as it says in Colossians 3:23-25 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism." I think you are setting a good example of how we should be and are showing good fruit and God will bless you for that. Not saying you should do anything that will affect your own work performance or anything, but I really like how you say you do nice things for others like bringing treats or helping out others’ work if they are behind when you can, etc. That’s my thoughts on the matter anyhow =] I’ll be praying for you that things might ease up on you and that God turns all around for good that was meant for bad toward you.

Its sounds like a very difficult work place for you...it must wear you down...? I do not mean this unkindly, but often as Christians, when things in our lives go a bit wrong, we simply blame the fact we are Christians, that we are being 'persecuted'. Maybe it is not that you are a Christian? maybe there is something else going on? when we are in a troubling social situation, we are the common denominator, so its useful to look at ourselves and ask what could we do differently, why is it you seem to be rubbing folks up the wrong way? I work in an agency where I am the only Christian but its a wonderful place of work and my atheist boss is always popping into my office for coffee and a chat...brilliant!! :) God Bless you as you seek God given answers to this situation. :) <><

i would like to THANK EVERYONE for your support and advice. the strange thing for me is if someone had posted the same situation i would have had all the advice in the world for them but i couldn't advice myself , i know i'm trying my best to be a good Christian, but i understand that doesn't mean allowing others to walk over me ,and use my kindness for a weakness,

there have been times in the past when i just couldn't ignore the situations and told them all what was on my mind and no it's didn't come out the way it should have , had i just walked away but i meant what i told them but felt embarrassed how it ALL was said, yes they backed off for awhile

i always say life is to short to let things and negative people take any of your precious time

once again Thanks for the wonderful advice

this is why i truly love this site because you get advice from a Christian viewpoint

God Bless your humble heart, I can sense your are genuinely trying to be a good servant and have a gentle spirit. That makes it easy for some folks to take advantage. Do not let your unkind treatment tarnish your God given character, we are not all assertive & loud......( that would be me:( I respect you very much for your response, i pray you will find peace in your place of work and be valued. If not? Then I pray your obvious love for our Father will be rewarded and He will bless you abundantly with a new job...a totally amazing one! God Bless you! <><
