Ephesians 6:12-15
King James Version(KJV)

12.)For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13.)Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14.)Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15.)And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
That felt like a rambling novel in that this thread had a very good start and you gave a solid ending, but in between was an interesting, meandering what-was-that?

Thanks for bring us back.

I went on a boat trip on Loch Ness, I got very sea sick and nessy could
not even be bothered to poke his head above the water.
Yes...we did that as well. Didn't get seasick, though. Didn't see Nessie, either. It WAS cool watching the onboard sonar, though.

That's a DEEP lake, er, loch.

I originally thought 'gird your loins like a man' meant something similar to 'grow a pair'. Haha!

One time me and my close friend got into an argument and after I was dropped off from the other person who was driving since my friend who I was arguimg with didn't have a phone I decided to leave a hatful message on his parents answering machine. Girding up the loins means to me that we have all done totally shameful stuff. Some might not be as shameful as what I mentioned above but back to what I was saying girding up our loins is understanding how shameful we have acted as sinners and so we repent and live for and obey Christ completely as the One who is our only hope.

That's absolutely not what it means.

Gird up your loins: prepare and strengthen oneself for future actions, typically ones that may be dangerous or difficult.

Here is one view of this expression......

[h=3]Gird Up Your Loins - Maranatha Baptist Seminary[/h]

The biblical expression “to gird up the loins” meant to put on the girdle; it signified that the person was ready for service (I Peter 1:13). On the other hand, to loose the girdle meant the person was either lazy or resting (Isaiah 5:27).

We women have been wearing girdles for centuries, we know a thing
or two ya know.

So men, get out your girdles and show us what you can do. :)

(Spiritual that is)
