im 25 and i never had any piercings, only 1 tattoo and got that for my daughter 4 years ago. if it wasnt for her, i wouldnt even have this tat.

i like change so i like to switch it up here and there so i thought about getting my ears pierced just to see if i like it.

my 1st thought is, no. its not me. but at the same time, i like to try new things.

so the question is .. should i, or should i NOT.

On my opinion you shouldn't. Our body is the temple of God, God lives in us and God gives us our body when we were born. So it's unwise to modify it because we have to keep untouched until our resurrection.
Just my opinion

Go for it. God gave you the temple, do something with it. Decorate it.

The issue i have with people that are against 'modifying' the body, or putting a lot of stock in the 'body is the temple, so we must take care of it' (which, we should, reasonably) is that i've yet to meet a single one that lives this 100% they way they preach it. There's always an excuse why they are different. Most people like this have some kind of piercings if they're women. Or they don't eat the healthiest, don't exercise, etc... I've yet to see one that doesn't have a piercing, tattoo, hair color, that eats only naturally grown, organic foods, that exercises regularly, etc.. Any one or more of these types of things.
So unless your conscience bothers you, then don't worry.

yea the reason people are against piercings and tattoos are because that what pagans did to worship their false god.

but this is not the reason. and i feel that as long as you dont over-due it, and do it not for the wrong reasons, its not a problem.

doing it for the wrong reasons is idolatry.

I have been wanting to get a spike through my ear kinda like a old testament bond servant... ( I believe they did that) The reasoning is because every Christian is a bond servant of God...

do you feel guilt for it?

reason i ask, is because if you feel guilt then you convict yourself which means you make yourself guilty of the sin.

If I did it to glorify my earthly appearance without glorifying God I would... But to me that signifies I want to be a servant of god...

In the old testament after a slave was aloud to be set free some were like "NO WAY! Are you kidding me, I am so much better off with you than by myself." So they would mark that he is a slave by choice.

I view myself as the same, I am returning to God going, "man I am so much better with you... Make me your slave again..."

But there are a few things that go into a piercing... First off some job's don't allow you to wear piercings in the work place ... But the main thing is, are you doing this for God or for yourself... Also read through some books like Leviticus 19:28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Many use that verse to say tattoo's and piercings are wrong but they practiced circumcision... That is cutting the flesh... But they did it to Glorify God and keep His law... So would you go and get your piercing with Jesus on your side...

“If the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life” (Exodus 21:5-6).

Many prominent men of the Old Testament were referred to as servants. God spoke of Abraham as His servant (Genesis 26:24; Numbers 12:7). Joshua is called the servant of the Lord (Joshua 24:29), as are David (2 Samuel 7:5) and Isaiah (Isaiah 20:3). Even the Messiah is called God’s Servant (Isaiah 53:11). In all of these instances, the term servant carries the idea of humble nobility. Being God’s servant is an honorable position.

Found this on a website, not my own words

So why do you want to pierce your ears? What made this thought emerge?

i dont know. i like to switch it up a little and try different things. i get bored of the same look after a while so i thought a change like that may seem fit. and if not, i can always take it out.

Okay, what you do is your own decision and I am not saying to get it done or not too... I am just saying look at the bible and decide for yourself...

Our purpose is to bring Glory to God.... Jesus was perfect and free from sin... He was completely self-less and did everything for God's glory... Knowing that, could you see Jesus doing what you are doing??? If not then I would urge against it strongly!

I know it seems radical to be like Jesus... And to live your life like he does... But that's what the bible tells us to do...

So if Jesus would sit there and smile for the reason that you want a piercing, that means that it will bring glory to God...

i dont know if it would bring glory to God. not everything we do will bring glory to God.. like what we eat wont bring glory to God, but we thank Him for what he does for us.

we get out hair cut, that wont bring glory to Him, but it cleans us up and we thank Him for doing so.

In my opinion, it's completely up to you bro. If you want to do it, do it. There's nothing wrong with it. There are some people on here who will tell you it's a sin/it's not right, but I disagree with that... Also, the first few weeks of the piercing is critical. So if you don't like it you can stop wearing the earrings and the holes should close up.

But it's up to you bro. Good luck. :)

I don't personally see any problem with a guy piercing his ears; but it's a personal decision.

If you are not sure, why don't you try a clip on and see if you like it? There are many of them that do not look like clip ons. There are also the magnetic ones if you want to go that route.

I personally see nothing wrong with having your ear(s) pierced, it is up to you. If you are unsure, take it to God in prayer and see what feelings you get about it.

Piercing them hurts less in the long run! :) Clips start to hurt after a while, but they work for some people.

I agree; if ppl want to pierce their ears, they just should. If they don't like it, the rings can always be removed.

In the Bible, the Lord Himself is recorded as giving earrings to Zion in Ezekiel 16.12, and even a nose ring.

Kind of a conversation-starter, right?

I got mines pierced back in high school. Don't not do it because of the pain factor, because really it doesn't hurt that much,
BUT ear piercings are a real hassle to take care of and maintain and keep from getting an infection. I ended up letting mines just close up lol :)
