What all of you are saying is that it is important to put what the bible says in the word before what any man says, and have a personal relationship with God. We are to try our best to keep that relationship on a spiritual basis, without letting our fleshly desires get in the way.

With the "armor of God" surrounding us, seems to me we can find what is scriptural in men. My church, the best church I can find that I can get to, teaches some things that I think distorts what God says just a bit. I and my pastor have discussed it. We agree on the basic points, like the salvation offered by Christ, and agree to disagree about others. I still thank God for the blessings of the fellowship in that church.

With all this in mind, I think it is wonderful to listen to others share how they see God, sometimes it helps open our minds to Who God is. Not because some man said so, but because scripture says so and that man explained it well for a better understanding.

Thank You.

I can be naive and paranoid, so i may act irrationally and get bad vibes from every1 all i can try to do is try and listen to the HP more and more, and try to be more in tune with Christ. It is not my mission in life to find out the truth , I just want to do what is right, I will still listen to all the people I listed but God is my true teacher and I only follow him.
There are many pastors, preachers and teachers out there who may appear very genuine in what they are saying and trying to do...but they can be genuinely wrong. Once the slippery slope of tolerance begins, compromise can follow. Just coz someone is on the TV or radio, written a book, does not make them 'solid'. I think God tells us it should be ALL of us, all who follow him, to have our mission to hold onto the Truth and tell the lost the Truth. The only Truth is in the Word, not out of context but in its entirity. It's ok to listen to these people if you really want too, your choice of course but as both Jakes & Osteen compromise their preaching, both could be seen as un- safe...you need to be discerning. sometimes we like a particular preacher, not because they ever challenge us, but because they tell us what we want to hear. :) God Bless you, <><

yea, i do agree his sermons are very happy happy, you can do it, type services. but some dislike shouty angry type preachers while others dislike being told their sinners. I feel in this big world everyone responds to different people, and just because JO is positive and tells people what they can achieve shouldn't suggest the listener is going to live out their lives pridefully and believe they are sinless, I think God places people to appeal the holy spirit in them to stir and will them to change, and though I think every1 here believes him to be not really a good pastor i believe his works are good.

and which interview did you mean? the Larry King 1?

JO is not teaching God's word. There are many other men who do: The Stanleys (Andy and Charles), Tim Keller for starters.

I don't much care for the screamers either, but JO doesn't preach the bible. I dare you to find one place in one place in the bible where God says e wants you to be happy. Its not there. God wants us to be stretched, grown, and changed. JO preaches circumstancially based happiness and that if you do a) God will bless you everytime. This is just not true. This doesn't mean God doesn't love you or want you to have joy and peace, but He doesn't guarantee happiness because you obey, pay your tithes, or go to church. That is unbiblical. Jesus was more fulfilled than anyone ever created. He did EVERYTHING correctly. He suffered immensely, but He had joy and peace in the father.

How is it that there are suddenly only two types of preachers? Happy sappy and afraid to offend, and angry shouting?

And his works are good, long as you don't hold them up to biblical scrutiny. Along with his teachings. There is a difference between people having a preference for different styles and someone who is not teaching the bible.

One of my favorites from him is him telling a story of how he visited India and met many people there. He says 'i don't know what Indians believe (Hinduism, multiple gods, none of them the God of the bible) but they sure do love God over there.' Wow, Joel.

Joel is the Joe Biden of the "Christian" world. And I say "Christian" world loosely since he doesn't really preach a truly Christian message. But, the stuff that he says makes you just want to face palm.

Ok, you got me agape, but in context these verses are not speaking of the same kind of happiness JO speaks of. These verses speak of happiness beyond circumstances...they speak of God meeting you in your need, weakness, or whatever your state may be and bringing resolution. That resolution is not happiness. It's comfort, a filling, etc. JO preaches that God wants you to be wealthy in worldly ways as if you are not wealthy, there is something wrong.

I never said there were only two , I was giving an example of different types.

I hear you Remza. Though I had knowledge of a God, I had NO idea who Jesus was. Who he really was, and what he did for us all! I only heard Jesus's name mentioned at Christmas and that he died for our sins. Had no idea what sin was. But....I started to begin to listen when I turned the TV on to a preacher who mentioned a little bit about him. I also asked Jesus into my heart every week. I didn't know that you only had to ask once. So Joel Osteen was my baby step, so to speak to where I am now. I agree with you if I read your posts correctly that perhaps God places certain people as others venture on their journey with God. But it was soon where it wasn't enough to listen to him and God had me move on....and on...and I keep learning, and now I am just in the Word. But I do thank God for my journey and putting certain people in my path so I got to where I am now, filled with His Holy Spirit and living each day to always put my sights on him and what he did for me.

I always like to listen to Joel Osteen, Joseph Prince, TD jakes and Myles Munroe.. they are preachers, motivational speakers or anything else.. what ever they are, their preaching is from word of God. God has anointed them, God has made their voice loud enough so they can reach millions of people. Their teaching has really brought change in my life, the more i listen to them that much closer i get to God. Don't listen to others, you like their teaching and words so you should listen. They are people of God like you, listen to them. I hear news often that (this people fly in jets, have big mansions, they are all fake blah blah blah). I dont really care about those news.. i believe this people work for God and he bless them and thats what is written in bible, that he bless his people. So keep listening to this people to increase your faith. Faith comes by hearing.

I really like Joel Osteen, Joseph Prince , TD Jakes , but people all seem to think they are false preachers.
Is there anyone out there who agrees with me?

I listen to the heart and my heart tells me what they preach is true to The Word. I do not worship them or obsess over them, I just get encouragement in my faith from what they teach, to do good in the world and stay positive.

I enjoy watching Joseph Prince. I haven't watched enough of the others to have an opinon. :D

That right there is your problem Remza, you listen to your heart and you follow your heart. Here's what the Holy Bible says about the heart and it's nature:

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9 (King James Bible)

So when it comes to matters like these or any matter, you may not want to depend on your heart to lead you. What you should be doing and what you need to do is to test everything by the word of God. You are to bring everything you hear said and test it by the Scriptures. As Christians we need to follow the word of God and not our heart or our feelings. Our heart and feelings can deceive us. And if you've been a Christian for a good while Remza, then you should already know this.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. - Proverbs 14:12 (King James Bible)

The truth is that Joel Osteen is a false prophet. He twists Scripture and misapplies it dozens of times. In fact, in his book "Your Best Life Now" he does that numerous times. A Bible preacher by the name of Bryan Denlinger did a sermon exposing Joel Osteen and his book which he wrote (Your Best Life Now).

Joel never preaches on Biblical Repentance. He never preaches against sin. Nor does he preach on Hell and coming Judgment.

Joel Osteen is as phony and flaky a false prophet as they come! He does not preach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Joel Osteen preaches a Prosperity Gospel which is centered on man's carnal heart desires. Therefore because Joel Osteen preaches another Gospel and because he twists and distorts the Scriptures to suit his false doctrine and fancy, he is a false prophet and a wolves' in sheep's clothing. In fact, one preacher and minister I listen to a lot, said he believes that Joel Osteen is a minister of Satan, a true one. And I agree with that minister. True Satanism is twisting and distortion of the Scriptures, which is exactly what Joel Osteen does.

Now as for Joseph Prince, I have not studied that man so I cannot tell you whether or not he is real and genuine. I have listened to some of his teachings though on Grace. And I must say I think he is very sound with his teaching on the Grace of God. He does emphasize the fact that salvation is by grace through faith and not of works.

And as far as TD Jakes, his problem is that he has conformed to the world. I mean just study the guy and see how much success he has had in his ministry, his books, and even the accolades and awards which he has received over the years. I mean TD Jakes is not really suffering any persecution from the lost world. He is just not. In fact, he has made appearances on BET, the Larry King Live Show, The Today Show and other mainstream media venues. I mean when was the last time you've seen a real Bible preacher get any air time?

TD Jakes is also very ecumenical. He doesn't attack the Roman Catholic church which is the Whore of Babylon, he never preaches hard on sin, he almost never preaches on Biblical repentance, and I don't think I have ever heard him preach a 30 minute message on Hell. I mean that alone should raise some red flags Remza.

If you want to check out some real Bible preachers. I recommend you look up the following Bible preachers and listen to their sermons:

Reg Kelly, Al Lacy, Bryan Denlinger, Peter S. Ruckman, Lester Roloff, Richard Sowell, and Michael Hoggard.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..... I don't like tv preachers. Their $$$ and fame corrupts them and then they conform to what the world wants to hear....."itching ears" and not the cold hard facts.
I say GO TO CHURCH!!! Find a preacher/church that teaches the facts! Facts that you can go and confirm in our own bible at home!!! But not only that, once they pass that test, then look at their personal lives... are they walking the talk?

TV preachers............YUK

I have never cared for Osteen, just seems very fakey. Then I see the thread about what his wife said. I figured as much.

Prince and Jakes are good so far. But we should always check out what anybody says regardless of how well known they are.
