I am looking to upgrade my laptop I have had this guy now for almost 4 years. I know a bit about computers but its always a tough choice when it comes to finding certain things. I guess I want something that can handle alot of multitasking and maybe a few of the entertainment (Music, games, etc.) I use my computer for. Does anyone have any suggestions? Of what brand specific graphic cards memory, or processors? Any friendly advice would be great! I had a friend recommend an alienware but not only are they pricy but they're also bulky and look like they're from space haha

God Bless

Go for Samsung with hind end processor like i7+. This brand which will be cheap and best. When you go for i7+, you will get 1000 GB of Hard disk to store somany. or else go for IBM laptops. will be rough use, which i have seen as per Indian standards.

Alienware has good build quality but indeed pricey, and you're subjected to Dell support, which can be a turn off.

As far as OEM suggestions go, I recommend Clevo, Lenovo, and MSI. Samsung is pretty good too. Getting yourself a Clevo will give you the most bang for your buck, and - depending on who you purchase from - probably considerably better support than you would get from Dell, Lenovo, or Samsung.

Check out some Clevo and MSI resellers, like ProStar. You might be surprised by how much you can customize a laptop through a reseller.

Happy hunting!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I normally never just buy a laptop the way it is. I always look for some that I can customize. I have heard bad things about HP's but I have never had a problem with them. I just always hear conflicting information i.e some people suggest getting as much ram as you can (12-16gb). However I've read that even if you have all the ram in the world and a processor that can't support it then it is going to waste. I've heard no more than 8-10 and you should be absolutely all set. Have you guys heard anything else? I mean I said money is not an object but that doesn't mean I'm going to spend 4,000 bucks on a all decked out laptop you know what i mean?

If you go with a refurb, make sure to get a good warranty.

8 GB of memory is plenty. Heck, you could probably make due with 4 GB even. If you need more than 8 GB, go with 16 GB; the reason being that the memory module configuration will be more optimized.

12 GB = 3 sticks
8 GB or 16 GB = 2 or 4 sticks

An even number of memory sticks/modules will allow the system to run in synchronous dual channel, which is ideal. :)
