Hello, I am a Christian and I have been for about 7 yrs now. I grew up in the church and fell away at a young age because of family issues. When I got older I got into drugs and I ended up going to a long-term treatment/discipleship program. I have been home for more then a year and I constantly feel I am not where I am supposed to be. I constantly feel God wants me to quit my job and just trust him. Trust him for money and everything else but be teaching his word to people. It's so confusing because everyone else around me, even people at my church say God wouldn't tell you to do that or God wants us to work. I am not lazy and I have had the same job for about 10 months now but all the time I don't feel like I'm supposed to be there. I mean how can it not be God if it doesn't go away. That's usually how God speaks to me through his spirit. If I don't do what he says he just keeps putting it on my heart. Any thoughts? Also before I got the job I felt like God didn't want me having a job but because I live with my sister I felt pressured to get one.

Hey there, I think its pretty difficult for any of us online here to give you any accurate advice on what you should do regarding your job. You should seek advice from elders at your church or someone that you regularly speak to and ask them to pray with you about it. I had the same thing years ago, I left my job because I thought God wanted me to, but in hindsight I was wrong. You can teach people the word anywhere, anytime, you don't have to not have a job to do that.

I've already done that and they think the opposite of what I think. Why do you now think leaving your job was the wrong thing?

Maybe you are missing the real message - which could be to change your job to something else that still enables you to contribute to your sister's household expenses such as food, etc. which is only fair to do unless your sister refuses your help.

Maybe you are just not supposed to be where you are now working. There might be a better place God has for you.

It seems to me that you are better able to share the gospel with others if you are around lots of people you could spend time with after hours. Or maybe you could start a "lunch bible study" with those you work with.

Experience has taught me that when God equips and calls you to teach, he just moves people into your life. You hardly have to go seek them out. If you are working or not, it will just happen.

Keep praying - the answer will come. Just don't do anything until you have that peace about making a change deep in your spirit. And you just know that you know. And remember that he will always confirm his word (even personal ones to you) with some sign of confirmation.
