I try not to let myself go, by that I mean I try somewhat to look presentable when I leave the house. I don't mean to mow the lawn, but when I'm going somewhere in public. I don't wear pajamas and I brush my hair and maybe throw some mascara on. If my Husband and I are going to dinner or a special occasion, I'll dress the part.

I kind of feel abnormal for a woman. I don't care much about makeup or nails, I want my nails to be clean but I don't often wear nail polish. I had a manicure and a pedicure once, I felt that it was highly overrated. I have never ever been to a tanning bed and I don't make it a point to tan every year. My ideal favorite shoes are flip flops. In colder weather I usually wear sneakers.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being into makeup and shoes and all of that other stuff, but I sometimes feel like I'm strange for not caring about that stuff. I have friends that will spend large amounts of money on primping. Am I to laid back? I'm not a slob, I do shower and shave and dress appropriately. Are any other women low maintenance like me?
Too high maintenance. lol I'll wear a nice shirt when we go out, but wear the same pants. I don't wear jammies because people don't want to see me in jammies. They'd have to jab their eyes out.

Flip flop? Too much effort keeping the shoe on, and that thing poking between the two toes. Ewew! Best footwear in summer is barefoot. Best footwear in winter is socks. Shoes go on only to go in business.

I'm definitely a jammie girl in the winter months and I do not have to go anywhere. They hold in your body heat from the night, and feel so soft and comfortable all day.

Summer is way different. Love to have fun with color - coordinating it in different ways with my clothes. The artist in me is sort of "painting" my clothes on me.

Makeup is very minimal.

Then you never get to squish your toes into the mud, (unless you have a hole in your wellies. lol)

I guess I'm a low maintenance man. I've had my annual bathe in the sea... I forgot the soap!
:b
OK. Too much humour! I do look wierdly at men who spend ages getting every hair in place... Is like "Is this guy real?"

My Husband shaves his head but it still takes him longer to get ready than it does me. He isn't a primping kind of guy, I think he just pokes around a lot. I couldn't have married someone who was to into dressing up. If he had to wear a suit to work and had to look a certain way, hair and everything I'd understand. Lucky for him that he's a mailman and has a simple uniform.

My Dad owned a business and was a salesman and had the dress of one, 3 piece suit and a tie and very nice hairstyle.

Thank you ladies. I needed to read this tonight. I'm trying to be an example to my Daughter that being modest is a good thing. I also find the tanning an unhealthy obsession for some and it's really bad for your skin. Someone in my family is tan all year round. I worry about her skin. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't fuss about those things.

You are so welcome. It's far more beneficial to concentrate on your health and spirituality than in ultimately ruining the skin God gave you with sun damage or from chemical products you do not need, aging yourself and being more susceptible to cancer. Take care of what God gave you, that's the ultimate form of beauty.

You will thank yourself for not tanning. Every dermatologist I ever heard said the best things you can do for your skin to keep looking young is (1) do NOT tan (2) do not smoke and (3) drink plenty of water. The women who tan get wrinkled and leathery before their time. So you will stay young looking long after your tanned friends get old looking. :)

In my house, you know how to dress up and look comfortable in dress clothes, period the end. So I dress up very well :D. Since I dress up well people tend to think that I'm super fussy about my appearance. I'm not. My normal outfit is jeans, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes or cowboy boots. I'll often wear a little makeup but very little jewelry or "bling" of any kind. I like being myself and I would prefer NOT to spend a lot of time dressing up. That being said, I love floral scented bath gel and silky jammies and makeup...just because I'm feminine :).

I agree, that's what I am trying to teach my Daughter. She's only ten, but I think the younger we teach girls modesty and about being true to themselves and to follow God, the better.

My wife is low maintenance, she doesn't wear make up and doesn't need it. Most women look better without it.

Drum roll please..... awesome comment.

I hate the pressure commercialism and over conscious self centred society puts on us -our looks that's why I don't use make up much. I can't be bothered . if a lady GENUINELY likes to put on make up everyday or lots fine she's happy but I feel many ladies put on makeup because societal?? Pressure and peer pressure. Don't cause you wanna be happy plus if your low income its a unwise use of alotta money each month. Some Women buy the expensive brands not all , to show off to people.

I am another women who rarely wares make up, doesn't dye my hair, doesn't ware nail varnish on my finger nails. keeps my nails short and clean. The most important thing is to me is to be clean and tidy. I dress smartly either trousers or a dress depending on mood and normally flat shoes. Never had an disare to tan and am not into jewellry most of the time I just ware my wedding ring. I want people to accept me for me, to see my character and see Jesus in the way I live my life.

I could not agree more.

My wife looks good with minimal makeup, if any. I think most women do...

One of my worst "mistakes" as a husband was made as an honest comment about her looks... she had one of those "Glamour Shot" photo sessions without my knowledge, then showed me the pictures...

I told her that the pictures were nice, but I really preferred her with her hair and makeup done the way she normally did them..I thought I was being honest, and nice..paying her a compliment, but I saw that it hurt her feelings. I think because she was doing it for me, and I sort of "dissed" it. Unintentionally, of course, but still...:(

In my 20s I was engaged to a woman that took two hours of getting ready to leave the house. Even for a 10 minute run to Wal-Mart. Drove me nuts. I complained. She cut it down to an hour and half. /sigh
Fortunately my current gf is nothing like that. She's low maintenance. Though she does doing some things to look nicer, it's not all the time. I think she has the right balance.
And since I, myself, am low maintenance, it works well.
I'm slower now, with my leg problems, but before that I could be ready and out the door in 2 minutes. Unless I get distracted haha.

I never wear make up (Tried it twice, made me itch so much both times that I had to remove it)

Dresses are for weddings :p and if I ever wore high heels I'd end up with a cast for sure.

I shower and clean clothes are enough for me :p

Mega girl thread, but for what it's worth I don't find all that extra stuff attractive unless its goth lol. Simplicity is more intriguing.
