Pride is a tricky one. I struggled with that one a lot and this demon worked in pair with the pride demon so they tossed me to and fro like a volleyball, I'd embrace pridefulness to feel good about myself and look good to people for a moment, then get depressed again, feeling like garbage... but this other one is the same demon, just instead of condemning others he voices his mean opinions against the newborn child of God that you are... it really hit me too when I realized it was kinda like murdering Jesus all over again every time I hated myself. God doesnt make junk. Biblical humility is different and loving in nature "love others as you love thyself" - not the conceited self-love.
When you wrote this above, I remembered David and the account of his son Absalom... (as handsome as me). Ha! Ha!

Satan sinned the same way, pridefully. And he divided 1/3 of heavens.

As Antonine said (
-A. de Saint-Exupery
) we need to see things WITH THE HEART...

LOL, that about Absalom is hilarious,
Reminds me of that song "Mememe it's all about me" or something like that by a band called, no more no less, Jezebel xD. Ran into that once by accident in related videos when I was doing a Bible study on Jezebel, lol

Ezekiel 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty...

No thanks, I'll look up to Jesus He is the true mirror for us anyways. He tells us all the bad and also shows His love for us. :)

Another thing we have to be aware of is when we do finally grasp the truth the enemy will then target us with comments like "who do you think you are?". The Lord taught me how to remain strong in truth and answer my accusers:

"when Moses came down the mountain and shared all that he just experienced with God was He just speaking truth with a humble heart or was he being prideful?"

walking in truth with a humble heart will be targeted by the enemy. It will be labelled pride. This is a trick of the enemy to stop people walking in the fullness and maturity.

Telling a person they are prideful, when all they are doing is walking in truth is calling truth a sin. A dangerous thing to do.

KNOWING what pride is and what it isn't is very freeing

I think it's our low self esteem that eventually gets us to see how much we need Him. It seems the proud and boastful never seem to get that they need anything outside themselves? I spent most of my childhood years being teased, (being Asian in a mainly white/black community just made it worse-you can imagine the name calling?) I was spared the cliche Asian height jokes though ( I'm 6' ) Eventually I got lucky and it changed for me in Jr High and so on, but it took those years, and a downward spiral later in life, to make me see that I needed something bigger in my life, something or someone outside myself.

As weird as it sounds --- it was partly because of my self-hatred that I found Him.
Years and years passed, and as I saw the world and myself differently, and what truly mattered (like elf3 said in the note above mine) I followed God, .....so I'm good to go now. ;)

You have to be one of the sweetest people I've met on here SoulWeaver, people seem to dig you....you have a lot to be happy about my Dear.
You and I totally need to hang out. Just walk around the mall..talk about messing with people's minds lol

Awesome. Time and place?
I have to admit- malls creep me out a bit. Giant corporate ran, tan-marbled uber-buildings full of "must haves", people walking around on cell phones, zoned out, while avoiding eye contact?

Might I suggest a hot dog stand? I can handle the 'crowds' better. :) :)

...is a very deceptive form of pride, and possibly the worst, because it is so covert and seems humble but it is not.
This is just something that God's been showing me recently. God's is still at work with my restoration from unfortunate social encounters in the past, and this time my confidence is being stored on a safe place - IN HIM.
Seems this enemy tactics is to get us to judge/reestimate/analyze/torture ourselves over and over again, instead of simply BELIEVING and thankfully accepting His justification and other yay things that the word of God says about us.

Your thoughts and experiences with this?
God will show you the truth sis, you do well to trust Him. Watch out for the wiles of the enemy.

It is a relief to stop being judged inside all the time... got rid of the sneaky mean pharisee!
I'll be so glad if this thread prevents at least one person from hating themselves. Self-hatred is murder... So many people believe that if they hate themselves, that it is not sin. God says otherwise.

(oh, dear...did i just say swell??)

do you think the beginning of accepting God loves us unconditionally
is just believing Him? (help my unbelief?)

Yeah I am uncomfortable in large crowds so the hot dog stand sounds better. I haven't been in a mall in about 8 yrs.

true! If you looked at a diamond, you´ll see it is a simple stone but, the moment you look deep in it, looking inside what that is, you´d see how beautiful it is and, diamonds are hit "stones", torn pieces made anew to give others something gold miners miners never guessed.

The beauty is INSIDE.

Yep, He will keep chipping that stone and not nececcarily when we think He should be done! He will reach deep and even if it is not comfortable and remove the remnants of clay and prepare it to reflect His light.
