I can certainly relate to that... With the money comes a peculiar pride and "image consciousness". I still don't measure up to my parents expectations and they're pushing 80.
They're also Christian... They consider themselves very blessed.
Sorry to hear about your Dad, but it's good you got to pray with him.
He has a minister that visits him, though it's only once/month. Praying he gets more Christians to visit with him (I'm 300 miles away). When I last saw him in April, I read some scripture to him that was related to Easter. Something in him resonated with what I was reading to him. I could see it in his face. That comforted me. He likes it when people read scripture to him.

Young's Literal Translation
1 Timothy 6;10
for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;

Think about it... What can you do "these days" WITHOUT money? We are numbered at birth and raised in debt. Ultimately, if you refuse the "mark of the Beast", you will be denied access to work, trade, and money...

Revelation 13;
16Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,e to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.
this is why I proposed everyone just be given some numbers on their birthday, like a universal allowance.

It could be sliding scale formula depending on how old you are. Then those numbers are what you have to spend for a year.

by loving money, was the scripture meaning numbers

or...was it meaning actual currency?

if it was meaning just numbers, then all accountants are evil, cos they love numbers.

Or statisicians

they could be evil. However I fondly remember one of my math teacher in high school who loved numbers and he didnt appear to be evil...we students just thought he was a bit crazy. He thought Quadratic equations were beautiful.

Come on @Lanolin , you know there's a difference between numbers and money. Money would be worthless without the authority of evil in high places to call it currency...
