Proverbs 30:8-9 GNT

keep me from lying, and let me be neither rich nor poor. So give me only as much food as I need. If I have more, I might say that I do not need you. But if I am poor, I might steal and bring disgrace on my God.

Just because it's not the be-all, end-all doesn't mean it's "not important." Thank God we don't live in a barter system, so its kind of important. lol

I think it would have been better to listen to if it was "money isn't our focus."

I tried to tell the tax man that.
He didn't think it was one bit funny.

My employer keeps trying to tell me the same thing, we've not had any
kind of pay increase for at last five years unless you count 1% of 1% a
pay rise and I work for the Government.

Funny though how they all give themselves big pay rises and bonuses.

I always go into pay negotiation with the obvious trump card -- I'm good, so I'm worth it. I don't remember ever being denied. I do remember going in three months later with, "I'm better than this pay raise." That didn't work, but just once. lol

Of course, it helps that I have a head for numbers, so I can generally prove the company got more than a 1% increase in profits in the last year. (The only time I couldn't prove that is when the company didn't. I still got a pay raise of more than their increase in profits. I'm not a profit. I'm an asset. lol)

Have you tried, "How much will it cost you to find someone as good as I am if I quit" yet? It works. And notice, I never told them I was quitting. I just asked the obvious question they're thinking when someone does threaten that one.

Unfortunately the Government isn't a company, any money it has comes from loans from
other countries or taxes. Everyone is paid at the same pay grade - that's thousands of
people all getting next to no increase.

But just had a thought, if they pay us more we then we would all pay more tax and so they would
get it back anyway.

Yeah... no doubt
Some Norwegian politicians are saying we must expect taxes of 50% in the future...
I bet THEY won't have to pay them though (or even if they do, half their pay is probably more than all of our pay anyway)

I still remember why John Lennon became an American citizen. The UK wanted 80% of his income.

I've always admired Paul McCartney for staying in his country. I doubt I would have, if it were reversed.

Nowadays rich people just employ clever accountants to avoid
paying tax, including politicians.

But hey money isn't important. :)
