Every classroom I have been teaching in has been so neutral I don't even remember what color curtains it had! I would definately remember a classroom like yours! And I would love teaching in one just like that. Perhaps I should show your picture to my principal?
You certainly may. My principal paid for the paint out of school funds, and probably would have paid for the curtains as well, but she ordered so many art supplies for my class, that I felt too blessed to ask for more! I went a tad crazy buying things- but it was worth it.

Thank you, they are calendar pages from two calendars I got from the Dollar Tree. A little lamination and instant posters. I don't know why teachers love laminating things. Hot plastic fills our hearts with joy.

Thanks! I want it to be a happy place. Thanks for The Secret Garden quote, too. It is one of my favorite books and movies of all time.

One of my favourite books and the quote that's stayed with me among others was this:

"Take it. And make it come alive."

I think I will steal the kindness tree too. Even if I teach adults ;-)

Thank you, I'm rather proud of it. Now the real work is in keeping it organized.
You welcome.

I just hate it whenever auto correct is messing up my prepositions lol...or maybe it was my long nails that hit the wrong button:p.

Thank you, I always had a beach sort of theme, every year I have taught. So I incorporated my love of mermaids, too.
My wife loves pictures of mermaids and there are a few hanging on our bathroom walls. She even oil painted one. Did a good job. You did a good job too in decorating your classroom to create a pleasant learning environment for your students. Most impressed.

It's beautiful!!! With the light color on the walls, I'm pretty sure that the children will be focused on learning!!! What grade do you teach, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't have that problem. I'm an inveterate nail biter (filthy habit, I know). :( On the positive side, I read that nail biting is a sign of perfectionists, and it is a symptom of being stressed about not living up to our own high standards. Although, it was probably written by a nail biter justifying his dirty habit. Lol

Thank you, I find it a relaxing color. My froend told me it looks like the inside of an empty swimming pool. Haha. I told him that was what I was trying to achieve!

I teach seventh and eighth grade. My poor babies. They already feel self conscious about every little thing, so they feel self conscious about art. I feel like half the battle is getting them to be confident, or at least persevere and enjoy the process.

Thank you. I actually just got a mermaid obsession last April, so my fascination with them is recent. Finding those mermaid sheets at Target was a coup. I was very excited that day. I am hoping to make it an enjoyable class.
