I've never heard of anyone "dissing" art, either in or outside the church.
In fact it's encouraged where I live. There are lots of art/craft shops.
We have several theatres, a music college, opera north, various museums.
Collage of ballet/dancing etc.

The local council displays various art works around the city, we have street
art and buskers in the city centre.

They use children's art work to make welcome signs for different districts of the
city. Art can be a lucrative career if you are good at it.

We use art in the church to express different things.

The human race can be divided into three broad personality types. There are the athletic or physically oriented types, the intellectually oriented, and the artistic types. Whatever broad category a person belongs to, he may also have secondary leanings toward another group, the intellectual with a creative side for instance. But God created all these types of people. I like to think each type as a reflection of a part of what God is. You have to respect that. Each type has its gifts and value in God's eyes.
