FYI I live in a world where the church is no longer the church because it ignores most of what the scripture teaches. Those things are relevant because they are the sort of things people do that prevents them from meeting from house to house daily.
In a vast number of churches, the people meet on Sunday morning and that is it for the week. Daily or house to house doesn't come into it.

I think the way people live now (unless they live in housing complexes or retirement villages) is not conducive to social interaction or visiting.
The secular world has put a price on hospitality and now people are making money from it. Its ok if you can afford it, you'll get the five star royal treatment.
Think on Jesus, born in a stable as there was no room in the inn. Was there REALLY no room, or was it cos they couldnt afford anywhere?
