For times when regular skirts won't do, I finally ordered my first real kilt from USA Kilts, semi traditional in steward black modern. plan to use it for square dance, occasionally at church and possibly Scottish county dancing, pretty much anything requiring something a touch more formal. Any other kilt wearers here?

"Excuse me sir. I have a question."
"Aye lass?"
"Is it true that nothing is worn under your kilt?"
"I dinna know who told ye lassie, but 'tis the truth. Everything down there is in perfect working order."

Argh!

But she wasn't asking about the functionality of the plumbing, she was asking if it was properly covered. 😳🤨😵

He stepped up his game. Too bad the joke didn’t say anything about what was Bonnie Wee Lassie’s comeback lol.

History does not relate. But it was an American tourist in Scotland who asked the question. If she had a notable comeback it would probably have been recorded for posterity.

I had guessed according to the shortness of the kilt considering the relation to 'working order' and one of the possible antonyms being 'inadequate', my only other guess would be something along the 'unemployed' line of thought with no other clue other than that.

I saw a guy strolling down the street in Santa Cruz a bunch of years ago in a black kilt...
My personal preference would be tartan, to avoid any "gender preference" questions....

As to what is properly worn, or not worn, under the kilt.... you remember the battle scene in Braveheart, right? That should answer any questions...

There's no telling what people might get up to at a wedding, and over the years I have seen plenty of memorable pictures. One was the groom's kilt-clad wedding party facing away from the camera, bent forward, kilts flipped up... with the groom's surname emblazzoned across their bare buttocks. So memorable, in fact, that I still recall the name!!!

I've never wore one but kilts are part of Albanian or Greek culture and are usually used on traditional folk songs.

I like this one! Maybe because the knees are covered?
Probably.
These types of clothes were worn as a type of Warrior clothes too many centuries ago, but now they're mainly for traditional or national folk songs and in some rare cases even in weddings.

They look very close to Morris dancers!
