Cats have a bad habit of walking straight from the litter box across the dining room table and making a nest in your lap.

Maybe a bit but not like dogs.
Aside from the one dog we had that I described, I've never had a problem with dogs smelling. Cats however... Another reason for me to never have one again.

I cant answer this question, because I have never had to deal with it.
Side note: Every time I see that thread my brain reads it totally different: "Is he/she your pet or your spouse?"
I did that too on first reading.

I was going to answer based on that too.

My husband will be my pet and by that I mean treated royally. Some of these pets have their own clothing and go to 5 star hotels. I see this kind of pet treatment when there are people still needing these things and cant help wondering we have it backwards. Animals dont need this kind of treatment, because it spoils them. I nearly got bit of one of those pampered pooches the other day because I went to stroke it after giving it a bit of my steak. The owner just said, "oh hes like that with everyone except me' I thought, "sheesh, bite the hand that feeds you already"

One thing I've learned: Never say "I'll never do that" because your friends remember that stuff and WILL laugh at you 25 years from now when you are doing it.

Uncle Stanley recently fell asleep in the recliner with a coon hound puppy lying on his chest. He's getting soft in his retirement... Nooooo, he's a big man, he'd NEVER coddle a dog like that. :p Aunt Diane took a picture for posterity, or maybe for blackmail.

I bet some of these guys gonna fall in love with a cat lady one day, and wind up living in a house with 17 cats. And this thread will be proof that they once said they'd never do that.

Yes.... my wife is not a "pet" person.... dislikes cats slightly more than dogs. "we'll never have a dog in the house" we had two for 15 years, because our daughter wanted one....
Doesn't like cats.... I have a picture of her sitting on the couch reading, with our new kitten, (that our grand daughter had to have), sitting on her shoulder, watching her read.

Never say "never" ....

Dog breath smells really bad after they eat poop, which is not a problem with cats.

I feed my cats an organic hamburger and grain-free dry food, which is why they don't smell bad except on the rare occasions when they have gotten sick.

Your cats eat better than I do...

Don't know too many dogs that do that, but I agree sometimes dog breath can be bad in general (but, dogs have bigger mouths and pant like crazy... cats don't). I'm referring to an overall body odor.

For all the cats I have known over the years, and I have known a lot, I have never known one that stinks.

Dogs, now... Almost all of them have an odor, unless they get a regular bath.

If you had to pick one, would you choose your pet whom you have raised and grown to love or a potential spouse who you like but he/she doesn't like pets and doesn't want one and asks you to find a new home for the pet? Also, he/she doesn't have a valid reason (such as being very allergic) other than pets are a nuisance, unnecessarily responsibility, dirty/unclean, fur everywhere, hates cats, etc.

For me, I would definitely choose the pet. I read a post elsewhere where someone put all sorts of restrictions on the woman's cat, and also declared no more cats after the current one. I found this to be extreme. No quite the same level, but this is similar to disagreement on whether to have children.
I don't think I would even date someone who can't stand cats and/or dogs. I love them both and have always had pets. I can't live without them.

So you'd choose an animal over a human.

I met my husband to be and told him he was welcome to come by if he liked horseback riding. He came. A lazy dog was sunning on the porch. The cat was laying on top of the bird cage being preened by the bird. We rode horses talked and had fun. He came back lol and a year later we married. He has since passed away but my life remains the same with the animals. Everything is subject to change but not today and tomorrow does not look good either. :)

A Persian Princess sat down next to me and asked about my day, normal chat. etc.
She's working on a doctoral degree at the University. I shared a little about my opossum rehab. She said she prefers dogs and cats. She asked me what I prefer and I said............ children. 😄
I think we all like pets, but some forget that children are a priority. They aren't mutually exclusive, contrary to some opinions. My pastor told me that some are.
Personally, I'm not a cat fan, but can appreciate them when someone else is raising them. I'm allergic to them. Besides, my ex gf had 2 and when they'd get upset with her, she said they'd spray her bed pillow. Yuk.

Some people are marrying animals…this is crazy!
We have dominion over animals. Do they have souls? So they get to go to heaven. ? I like animas but unless God says they go to heaven then I wouldn’t put them first. I’m not sure if they do.

I would say that most cats put themselves 1st.

Just ask Grumpy Cat.

only 1 bible translation says that animals have a soul...KJV if I remember right
I was wrong....
  • "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7)
