Okay, so let's look at this subject from this angle: if you get a tattoo, is it likely to be faith-based in its design?

A lot of Christians get tattoos; and many of the designs that they get inked are indeed faith based, anyway.

(Please vote in the poll also.)

I know ive already got two tattoos but im considering a very simple religious tattoo. Probably with just the name of the book and the verse numbers.

Sarah: EVen a simple reference tattooed can be an effective talking point in witness, right?

So are either of your tattoos you already went and had done faith based?

Blessings.

No neither of my previous tattoos are faith based. But they do hold a special meaning to me. I only ever get tattoos I know I won't regret.

Sarah: Well, if you find you are thinking a lot about a particular Bible verse and keep wanting to tell others about it, you may find that its reference could provide the exact design idea that you're looking for.

Sounds anyway like you're not ready yet to stop getting ink. Especially if it continues to mean a lot to you.

Thanks for the poll vote, as well.

Blessings.

Getting tattoos can be addicting. At least to me they are. Though i only want two more and I think that will be it for me.

Sarah:

Well I think you must really like having it done.

It used to be a man thing to do, years back.

But today many Christian women seem to find it a very womanly thing to have done, and appear to have it done joyfully especially if it's for a faith based design, to enjoy talking to others about.

I guess there must be a good parlor near you.

Blessings.

Perhaps the poll should start with, is defacing the temple of God a Christian thing to do?

Lev 19:28 (KJV) [SUP] [/SUP]Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

The next verse talks about not trimming the corners of beards. Do preachers shave? and are Old Testament Jews in the land under the law in the same relationship with the law as New Testament believers in the church under Romans 14 Christian liberty, particularly as regards their motives to share the Gospel?

Actually Leviticus 19 lists a whole bunch of unrelated laws. And while we are not under the condemnation of the law they are still valid concepts to live by. God's word is eternal, the law was not done away with but fulfilled (as in the payment for breaking them) by Christ. Kinda like if someone else agrees to pay your speeding tickets, that doesn't mean that 35 mph limit is to be ignored. Frankly, one's faith should be shown in their living, not their tattoos.

Not saying don't do it, just tossing it out for consideration.

Getting tattoos can be addicting. ...
PS: Sarah:

Don't you think there's a bit of a difference between addictions and addictions?

Like, some addictions are bad.

But then other people may like doing something that would describe as good, particularly if it involves something such as getting faith based designs that are effective in witness?

Kind of depends what is meant by addicting, really, I guess.

Blessings.

I still think you are a secret tattoo artist farouk. I've never seen so much interest in tattoos and piercings here on the forum.

i second this. i've actually never known anyone on the forum OR IRL who is as enthusiastic about either topic. : )

and to answer the OP's question:

while i have no plans to get a tattoo, IF i did, it'd probably be in a place that i wouldn't expect for people to observe, nor feel a need to explain its sentiment or meaning. : )

Silence is part of freedom of expression. :)

When it comes to faith based designs which are proven effective in witness, communicating is kind of part of it, if the person wants to communicate, that is.

Blessings.

I believe tattoos defacing the temple just a shame I had one done before I could realize it.However I hardly involve myself in debates as to whether a person should get a tattoo ,whether its a cross or a butterfly I can't judge you.God gave us his word and his holy spirit to lead and guide us on earth and we should use it.

Kylie-jo: So was your tattoo faith based in its design, maybe?

As a tattooed Christian woman under grace, living for Gospel testimony, rather than being a Jewess under the Old Testament law, do you think that a faith based tattoo - Bible ref., Christian fish sign <><, etc. - can be instrumental in effective witness conversations, maybe?

Blessings.
