Does God punish individuals for their sin? I ask because my life seems to lead from one failure to another and I wonder if it is because God is unhappy or unsatisfied with me as a Christian.

I know someone who sins a lot and I do see a connection between their sin and their circumstances in life, that make life almost intolerable for this person.

I forgot to add, that I don't know if God is unhappy with you. But if your unhappy with yourself there is a good chance he may be a bit unhappy with you. However I want to encourage you to remember that you are loved. If you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and repented your sins truthfully to him. You are not only going to heaven but you are a child of God.

Now since your aware of sin.....repent and start being proud of who you are and remember your body is a temple and Christ lives inside of you.

Go and serve the Lord, by serving someone out there near you.

God Bless

I seriously don't think God works like that, though things can happen as a result of our actions like with anyone weather they believe in God or not, I seriously don't think like that. Though God is good and people sin, but if you don't know what you have done why burden yourself but accept the love of his grace. If on the other hand you know something you have done and this ways on your conscience and convicts you just ask forgiveness confessing your wrong and practice what is right. I don't know what has happened cause you didn't mention but there will always be hard times and happy times with sin or without sin. I know some times can be very hard lonely and painful I hope you find comfort in these words cause if by love for god and his goodness it causes you grief, I hope you will find some peace in loving his grace by which saves you.

What i find it, most often, our problems come from ourselves and our own bad choices. Be they psychological issues or habits from your upbringing, or ignorance, or a lack of self control, etc... Like the woman that has sex and gets pregnant and blames God for doing that to her. I would take a serious step back and honestly assess how much of this could you have avoided with better choices.
Though i know that is not always the case, sometimes things do happen we can't control, but most often it is us doing it to ourselves and blaming God.

I think that God can sometimes have things happen to us to give us a wake- up call, however:
- I believe that our problems are the effect of sin in itself, (whether God interacts or not),
be it our own sin or that of others around us.
- The bible is clear that God "makes it rain on the just and the unjust".

God is like a Father of a family. He loves and works with His children, but he lets the family down the street alone, they are completely separate. Sometimes he uses them, though. I think God used Hitler, even, it was after what he did that Jerusalem and what happens there compared to prophecy. Hitler's acts played a part in that.

I have been through deaths close to me, bankruptcy, enemies harming me, lots of awful things. I have been through blessings more than I can list. Each disaster was used by God in some way for my good, as well as the hurt I had. But I don't think that God said He would cause this child of mine to go bankrupt for the blessings it can bring. I think that God says that He wants all abundance for his kids. But when his kids go against how God tells the family to run, there are consequences. Both as a group and individually. What God does is look at each happening as work at fixing it to result in good for His kids.

A study of Plymouth and Jamestown in early America explains how I think it is. People in Plymouth tried their best to live by how God wanted and they prospered. An atheist living there would have also prospered, God would have simply left him alone. Jamestown people were sometimes Christian, but that town had other goals than Christian ones. They died. A Christian living for God living in that town would also have died. But as part of God's family, he would have eternal life.

I think I'm beginning to develop a deeper understanding. Sin is and causes the negative things in life. Temptation leads to sin and leads to pain. Tho it seems that temptation promises the greatest pleasures. Temptation is more prevalent in our world than God's word. What are some temptations that affect you all the most and how do you beat it? I'd like to start fighting harder against temptation.

Hey Wanderer,

I am here to share something I was asked to do by another member from the site. This is something I shared a while ago during an email reply if I recall correctly and the member ( Your friend in Christ :) ) thought it would apply as a good answer to your post.

Please remember this something I am sharing to help explain a little bit from what I have learned in my walk with Jesus Christ; in no way do I mean to enforce, judge, or express this as fact of life. If something is incorrect please feel free to point it out as I am always happy to learn what is right :) God bless!! ^_^

Sometimes in life we seem to be in trouble or suffering the consequences of previous actions. These can come from what others do to us, or random acts of life, and more often our own doings.. in short our previous actions or sins that we commit catch up to us. We pay for our actions, even when God forgives, we are still accountable for our actions or in this case our sins/wrong doings. Even when our actions are good they bear fruit :) so for everything that we do in life there will be a fruit to it.

This is a sensitive subject for some in regards to God forgiving sin as some think a simple sorry means all is great and gravy with life, and spiritually it is as long as there is true repentance; however this doesn't mean we don't pay for what we make in life. One thing I try to always remember is that God does discipline his children as any loving father would, but he will never make wrong in our lives.

Here is a great example in Galatians 6:7-10 about how our actions have a consequence.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Now if I may say from my own personal response to your post.

I would ask my self; Are things going wrong or failing because they are not coming out as I would like or is everything around me crumbling due to my interaction with them?

Sometimes it is because our poor decisions or because there is a plan behind all of this. Ask God where does he want you to go, correct anything you may feel that is wrong and ask for his light on your path. See where does it take you, even when things crumble have faith in him, it all might just be part of the challenge of this chapter in your life.

There are fantastic points already on this thread to help you on this walk and yes you are right, there is a lot more bad things in this world than good, and why he knows we need saving. Remember that Evil is like a waiter, just waiting to serve what you order.

Keep praying to keep temptation at bay and all wrong, keep your self touch with God :)

God Bless You friend and keep having faith :) You are not alone in this path of struggles and remember following God is no easy task brother, so pick up your cross and follow him ^_^! he is there to assist you.

Satan tempted Christ in the bible, so i would look their first. Anytime satan tempted Christ, Christ responded with scripture. I would seek out scriptures that have a relation to your specific temptation, or are just generally supportive and encouraging to you.

In scriptures it is written that some of the greatest sinners may seem as if they are rewarded for the sin they do at first but the time will come that is nolonger so and they punished by God.
It says God is giving them time to repent and change.

They may live perfect lives that they feel and look wonderful buzzing and happy and they got it all by doing evil not with a name or charachter moment but conciously with all they are , to many times and not once repented but repeated sins willingly maliciously.
It my nature they may say, but all of who you are?

Unconditional love and forgiveness is taken for granted........and the sinner is arrogant and feeling wonderful and looking so good to everyone swell.
Noone knows the crimes?
How anyone know, they lie so good, look and feel so good.
They were so clever and smart and so many of them...
But God knows.

It is written in scriptures it will look like "but why are they rewarded for evil they do"..... and look so perfect and feel so and but that they will be punished.
Not by humans or other people who may been supporting bad behaviours and crime or fooled and not knopwn about it, but by God.

A chirstian couple adopted child and molested baby few weeks old by touching and placing it mouth and then wehn it 3 or so the wife holds the screaming toddler down and helps the husband rape it and says "i am a good wife".
They kept it a secret and appeared like they loved the child and it looked good but was not.
They used it, stole from it and society saw them as "perfect" ?

If one is honest and repents that is good.
Many become arrogant and hateful.
see just today and .......such arrognat behaviours and hateful ness.

Keeping relationship, prays and try ones best to be and do ones best in who and all one is and being sincere.
Someone said for God knows sincerity of your prayer and if it is good or not.
Maybe not all prayers are good.
