To paraphrase an outstandingly great 1940s movie, "This looks like the END of a beautiful friendship." Starring the delicious Humphrey Bogart, saying the line to an equally delicious Claude Raines. I think the likes of Schwartzenegger and Willis have nothing on men like Bogart and Raines, not to mention the delightful absence of explosions in old movies that make them so much better than the ones in the 1980s.
Old movies bore me to death xD

That's too bad. You are missing out on many great films. It is probably because the film industry has changed dramatically over the years, and you are used to action in films, the visual, rather than the dialogue- the writing. Writing trumps visual every day of the week in my opinion, but we all are entitled to our own opinions.

Yes, because mood rings and pet rocks weren't lame at all. lol

(The woman with the teddy bears really isn't going to complain about lame now, is she?)
Teddy bears are okay they're better than pet rocks. If you still had pet rocks I'd tell you to repent lol.

Oh wait... I see now what the "problem" is.. You were still too young to really experience the 80's... :D

The 80's was the birth of the blockbuster action movie and the blockbuster action movie hero. Before that we only had westerns, war movies and seriously tacky-fake-flying-badly-dubbed-in-english kung fu movies (and I don't mean Bruce Lee movies )..

Also, the 80's was the height of disco (Saturday Night Fever) and the explosion of the 'teen heartthrob' era.. Every teenage girl had posters and magazines of their favorite celebrity crushes (Rob Lowe, John Stamos, Marky Mark a.k.a. Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise (believe it or not lol), Patrick Swayze, Emilio Esteves, Thomas C Howell, Ralph Macchio, etc...)

Also... the 80's was the birth of modern pop music, new wave style music and heavy metal (INXS, U2, Boston, The Bangles, Duran Duran, The Police, Rush, Def Leppard, Journey, AC/DC. Van Halen, Micheal Jackson, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi, etc...)

It was a really fun decade! :D
The '80s don't seem too bad, I'd love to watch '80s football for sure.

Yea true. The movies are way more visual and exciting, I'd have to disagree and say there are a lot of movies that have great dialogue.. Also what I don't like about movies from that era is the way people talked back then it just sounds funny I can't take them seriously.

I was born in late 1989 so I lived through all of the 90s. It was awesome! Being a kid at that time was truly amazing and I consider childhood to be the best years of my life. Not that life is bad now, but childhood is magical. I remember waking up early to go to school and catching cool shows like Goof Troop, Bobby's World, and Scooby-Doo. If mom had time, she would make us Eggo waffles or Pop-Tarts. Sugary treats for breakfast! :p

Back then school food was free, at least where I lived. We got free breakfast and lunch at school. Then during recess my friends and I would play kick ball, freeze tag, and make forts out of the tree branches. My elementary school was in the old high school building. So the new high school was a few blocks away and the elementary got the old building. So our field was this huge football field. We had a blast and we could run around it as we pleased. Boys had cooties. We would usually fight them for fun. Girls stuck with girls and boys with boys. But this didn't mean that girls were girly. We played in the dirt too.

Some of our toys included: Skip-It, G-o-o-o-z-e, Barbie, Sky Dancers, Polly Pocket, Lisa Frank, and toys from movies. I remember having lots of toys from fast food restaurants that you get with the kid's meal.

The best place to eat at was Chuck E. Cheese. You got to play, eat pizza, and then get a prize when you were ready to leave. My uncle would take us there often over the summer.

During class, we would focus a lot on cursive writing. Computers were rare and so we would go maybe once every two weeks to the 'computer lab.' This lab had 2 rooms with about 30 computers in each room. So usually two classrooms were in the lab at a time. Computer time was fun and mostly easy work. We would practice multiplication problems there.
Around 5th grade we started reading longer books and having to take computer tests on them. We would answer questions on what we read.

Harry Potter was a big deal. That series made reading fun and cool. Other neat books were: The American Girl Series, Holes, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Goosebumps, and Magic Attic Club. Everyone was listening to Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, N'Sync, and The Backstreet Boys.

Toe rings were popular. So were slap bracelets, platform shoes, butterfly hair clips...

After school, we would usually have a snack. Probably cereal or fruit roll ups. I'm being honest here. I didn't eat very healthy as a kid. lol But I never had problems with my weight as a kid. I think because...

One of the major differences I see from kids now is that my brother and I would spend all evening playing outside. We had bikes, roller blades, scooters, and a small swing set. We became lifelong friends (still talk to them) with the neighbor's kids and we would have adventures together. Sometimes we would ride our bikes to the small river in town and dare each other to jump in. I grew up in a Mexican border town of Texas so if you got home with wet clothes, you're latina mother would be upset! Other times we would skate off to other blocks of town hoping our parents wouldn't find out we had wandered off too far. :p

Video game consoles were rare. My brother and I did have a Playstation as kids and we loved it, but we usually left it for rainy days. Our priority was going outside. Some of the games we had were: Spyro, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil, and Final Fantasy.

On the weekends we would cuddle up with mom to watch a Disney movie or something on HBO. She would have us cover our eyes if something dirty would pop up. lol

Some of the popular kid's shows were: Hey Arnold, Doug, Rugrats, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, and Arthur.

I'm not saying the 90s/early 2000s were the best to grow up in. I know my mom loved her childhood too in the 70s. I just think I was blessed. I grew up in a low income area in a single parent home. She was a young mom too. But despite the odds, my mom did an awesome job raising us. I loved my childhood. It felt like an adventure...it was magical.

It was fun... back then family tv shows actually had morals at the end of the shows.. shows like family matters/ full house and a few others.... "Going to the arcade" was a thing too.. now everyone has consoles... back then we actually had to go to the library if we wanted to learn about something, but now we just use Google. mid 90s was kind-of bitter sweet for me though because where i used to live there were gangs who lived just around the corner, and there was always dried blood and bullet shells on the cement when i would ride my bike past there...2000s were ok, a whole lot of online gaming went on during those times.

Born in 82.. picture page?!?!? Zoobalizoo!?!?! Kids Inc.. Kid TV was amazing! Music was outstanding.. fashion, who can compare? Neons and big bold patterns and pairings. Caboodles, jelly shoes, the way kitchen set dishes smelled. Dream phone... Music in my teen years was still tastefully done although explicit. Movies, actors/ress the last generation of real talent. I loved school pizza, so big and fluffy! I thoroughly enjoyed the time I was raised in..

Going to the arcade was something I always wanted to do growing up but my friends and I always had consoles (Not that it was bad or anything we loved it). Every time I see kids in movies going to arcades it has this charm to it, I always wanted that experience. You're 31 so I'm guessing you were born in 1986? You're a blessed dude.

I had to look up everything you brought up haha :p .. Looks like you had a fun childhood. What I really love about the 80s/90s is that TV had that sweet grainy look to it. I really liked school pizza in elementary but when I got to middle school I stopped eating lunch lol it wasn't too good and I didn't want to spend my parents money on it.

Idk if anyone will respond to this lol anyway, '80s babies, what was it like growing up in the late '90s/early 2000s?
I mean, I was born in 89. I hardly consider that an 80s baby just because I grew up in the 90s. The 90s were always fun.

Wait Molly I have more to say lol. I answered too quick. Eggo waffles and Pop-tarts are the best!!! I didn't ever eat those in the morning though. Always had either cereal or a sandwich. I remember back when I thought girls had cooties LOL how does that even become a thing? Who invented such a stupid concept? I remember in elementary one of the punishments for getting too loud in lunch were to sit boy & girl. Everyone got so mad xD. Funny how those feelings change as soon as you go to middle school. I went to Chuck E. Cheese growing up as well I always thought it was one of the best places on the planet.. I didn't even know toe rings existed haha what the heck? Times really were different in the 90s.

I remember when I was a kid my mom yelled at my dad because we were watching HBO lol she thought it was too "adult" for me. I always wanted to experience watching Hey Arnold! when it originally aired. I think it was 1996? Sounds like a good time. Your mom is awesome, its a daunting lifestyle to be a female & raise kids on your own in a low income area. Kudos to her!

Hey brother, sorry I cannot edit my post anymore. There is a time limit. I'll be more careful about it in the future.

So much better back in the late 90s 2000's. Political correctness and people getting offended over the slightest thing these days is killing it.

Oh and video games were way better back then.

No way bro the videogames are so much better now. Well N64, Ps1, Xbox (original), Gamecube, & PS2 were all amazing-amazing consoles, but there are so much more things to do in games nowadays.
