'Sin may humble a Christian;
but human philosophy and religion
can only foster his self-esteem.'

'Let not conscience make you linger,
Not of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him.'

Sir Robert Anderson wrote some interesting Bible commentary.

He was ferociously opposed to Irish nationalists, as well. I don't necessarily see the need for the linkage, though.

Blessings.
