When I first moved to Seattle, I stayed in a motel with a courtyard with trees, shrubs and a lawn. Wild rabbits would hang out in the yard, and I enjoyed watching them from my window. Sometimes they would sit on a mound right outside the window a few feet away and groom themselves. It was peaceful and relaxing in a hectic, stressed out city. Although the rabbits would take a moment to relax, they were always on guard, ready to dart off at full-speed, although the only threat was probably a few cats that could probably never catch them. They would watch, as cats do, with me watching the scene out the window. If the cats got too close, I'd let the rabbits know, but, a cat is no match for a full-grown rabbit. Unfortunately, when I was a kid, we would keep the rabbits in cages, not knowing any better. God's critters should not be in cages-- especially not birds. I grew up in a cage, and it didn't work so well for me either...

rabbits r so cute...the city college near me is known (locally) for their immense amounts of them. someone let a few loose a while back and now we've got to many...sometimes people adopt them :) when my class did the whole "go to college" lesson in 5th grade, we spent a lot of time counting. have to wonder how many there r now...its been a few years :p

i agree., my mom is such an 'animal-lover', and she really is (esp. birds)., but one thing i don't like is that she always bring them here in the house and make a cage..and we have now more or less 12 pairs of birds...

When I was a teen, some people in our neighborhood were letting domestic ones go. So we had all these odd colored rabbits running around for a while. We rescued about 5 of them. One is still alive now. He is all black and very sweet and likes back scratches. He's about 9-10 years old. Which makes him about 80 in rabbit years. :p

Counting rabbits-- now that sounds like a fun way to spend the day! And why are they sending kids to visit college in the 5th grade? That's a 7 year "jump" start...heh; Words of wisdom-- don't get too caught up in the college work-out thing. Some people take the whole academic work to get ahead thing too serious. Enjoy high school first! Enjoy being a kid... it's over way too fast--

sometimes I feel 80 in rabbit years...
and wow--24 birds, that's a lot. some people make an aviary--
