As a political pundit Karl Rove was instrumental in getting Bush jr into presidential campaigns. He has been the central force behind Crossroads and Crossroads GPS which spent nearly $400 million of other people's money. Sheldon Adelson singly spent nearly $100 million of his own money. Altogether the republican side of this recent election there was spent nearly $750 million. In fact Linda McMahon spent over $100 million of her own money and failed in her race.

Sadly for them virtually the same political situation exists now that existed before the election. The senate gained 2 democratic senators, but the house republicans kept their majority, and president Obama was reconfirmed as president.

Can any of the conservatives here on this board explain any positive results gained from all that spending, and was it worth it? People in the states identified as "swing states" grew nauseous of the virtual carpet bombing of political ads 6,600 in the last month alone

Speaking for the liberal/democrats they had about 1/3 of the PAC and super PAC money invested in that election, considering what the goals of the republicans were, which was to virtually make the democrats irrelevant. The democrats far out reached their goals.

How likely is it that this same amount of cash will be spent, (or more), for the 2016 election? Will the billionaires bother to pony up the big bucks for potential political stars? Or will there be some sort of agreement available where limits can be put into place?

My husband and our daughters and I were discussing this today, and his question was,
what would happen if both parties in a race had to have exactly the same amount of financing for a campaign?

Wonder what would happen then.
And...will there even be an election in 2016 was his other question.

The only difference between the GOP and Dems, is how they spend the money to run up the
debt and deficit, which is going to cause the country to collapes. Since the moral standards in
the USA have gone through the basement, don't expect any good leaders to step up
and correct things. The leaders we chose are coming right out of the same pit that the population
is in. The people of the USA will have to change direction in their wickedness, before anything will
change but they are wanting to keep going with the flow.

Trax you sound depressed. The OP is about the election not the general condition of the country. Frankly I disagree with your points of view, either candidate would be OK but Obama won, and the GOP spent 3 times as much as the dems and still lost the election. The people who spent the $750 million for the GOP might not be willing to spend that much in 4 years seeing that they got nearly zero for their efforts this time in spite of many promises.

The Democrat money machine works like this, the Democrats take money from powerful public unions (a conflict of interest because they are supposed to negotiate with these unions to get the best deal for the voters) and then sell out the voters to the public union interests.

They also take money from a wide variety of special interests and some uber-wealthy elitists like George Soros The REAL George Soros: An evil, despicable excuse for a human being. No wonder the libs love the POS › 2.0: The Blogmocracy

Finally, they promise Americans that they will take money from people who earn it to give to those who don't if they will vote for them.

Pretty creepy.

Yea, the whole idea, or ideology that there is a difference between the left arm and the right arm of the beast is astounding to me.
One wants big business to run big government.
The other wants big government to run big business.
To me it is six in one hand, a half dozen in the other.
There is not a dimes worth of difference between the democans and the republicrats.
