......... We do not need the grace of God to withstand crises— human nature and pride are sufficient for us to face the stress and strain magnificently. But it does require the supernatural grace of God to live twenty-four hours of every day as a saint, going through drudgery, and living an ordinary, unnoticed, and ignored existence as a disciple of Jesus. It is ingrained in us that we have to do exceptional things for God— but we do not. We have to be exceptional in the ordinary things of life, and holy on the ordinary streets, among ordinary people— and this is not learned in five minutes.

Excerpt from Oswald Chambers

Oy, I disagree right off the bat.

More likely are they to add to stress and strain than to relieve them.
But don’t look at one sentence or word and disregard the rest.
‘Look what he’s saying, he’s saying that we Absolutely need God 24/7 and this speaks to me a lot when dealing with the mystery of existence and human suffering.
It is also saying that we have the potential to great things for God but our fallen nature fights that.
It also talks about patience when dealing with “ordinary” things such as sin, murder, war, theft and all other kinds of suffering we have to deal with on a daily basis.

Oy, I disagree right off the bat.Oswald Chambers from what i read was completely sold out to God (that’s what I hope to be, completely owned by Him…) So for him what we think would be big crisis did not have impact. He only was focused on what God did in Him for the furtherance of His wishes. In what he wrote Oswald was pointing out every mundane thing falls under the Lordship and obedience to God, and we cant take them for granted.

We do want to be saints, lets not be shy about that….and God is capable of making us His loved disciples like John.

More likely are they to add to stress and strain than to relieve them.

Actually i would run to Him right away. I feel so dependent and thankful for everything He has done for me.

These words have some bearing on what we are talking about:

Matthew, chapter 4: And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him

I hope to be such that nothing is such a crisis that I am fearful or unhappy. I would like to consider that i am so attached to God that whatever happens in this world does not matter (detachment!). I wish to be laser focused on His Kingdom letting everything else go.

I probably don't know where I really am! He is my underwriter, so I will leave how I really am up to Him. He is the good sheppard. I may see what the goal is but not know how to get there! He has drawn me to this point from my youngest days to love Him now and know He loves me now in my old age, He will take care of me until the end.
