Terrifying dreams

Recently I had accepted God back into my life and things were going great. My life was really turning around. But as I got closer to God I started having these terrifying dreams. I was laying in my bed and I couldn't move and it was hard to breath. I saw these evil black figures hovering over me all around my bed. These dreams felt so real I would wake up screaming. Are the dreams real? Maybe something to do with my own spiritual battle ? I had them every night for almost a month. Since then I have not been as active in striving to be close to God because of these dreams. I so desperately want to be close to God but I'm scared . What is your opinion if these dreams ? And do you think if I start to get close to God again that they will come back ?

Embrace and remember those times of things going good, that is a lot of psychology, going to where we feel 'good,' and we, as Christians, should feel good in knowing He is protecting us, keeping us, and, has already reassured us of His salvation plan which includes us in it, with Him for eternity. You never know when you will die, and, you wanna know where yer going when you do die . So, that's something to be scared of, I would give the demons the heave ho in this way, the power of God is great, lethaelbeth.

Read from 1 John 4 about the spirits that can hurt us. We are to call those spirits with the Love of Jesus in our voice, to tell them this: "Do you believe in Jesus as the Son of God."

And, if you get no answer then REBUKE that spirit, it is evil, and, do this next: "Satan, get thee behind me!" Then, thank God for His power having got rid of that situatoin from your life. Greater is He who is in you than he (Satan) who is in the world ."

Here is the verse but, remember, we need to be filled with Him, have you been baptized by His spirit, that's a simple thing, by faith, just ask the Holy Spirit to come into your life, then, by faith, receive Him. KNOW He is there. The Lord leads , He will help you through this. Pray to Him, ask Him, follow Him, for this way to Him, to His Helper for you, to comfort you through all things in life, not just the 'demons' of your life . God is stronger We are not strong enough, but God is. He conquered Satan's desire for death for mankind long ago, on the cross at calvary, Satan was done, he was finished.' Sin and death no longer would have a hold on mankind who chose to believe in Him, follow Him, with all their heart. Show love too to others, for in this way we love God, and, that is 1 JOhn 4:5 too

Hopefully, I pray now you know what to do and who to go too, for this situation, and, always bring everything before Him, and, read your Scripture too often, let the Spirit reveal all truth to you. John 16:13

I use to have horrible dreams like this too. They went away after I got re - baptized.

Evil spirits want to stop you from finding God; they will try and do whatever they can to do it. Don't let them detour you from seeking God. They have no power over you.

Pray and pray hard; God will guide you.

It could be just bad dreams. And the body does enter a state of temporarily paralysis when sleeping. And some people will wake and this paralysis continue for a short time. So it's possible that's all it is.
But it could also be very likely this is a spiritual attack, designed to prevent you from doing the one thing that will help you. I used to have bad dreams and nightmares. They started hitting me bad out of nowhere. I would wake up covered in sweat, i started praying before i went back to sleep, and wouldn't have them the rest of the night. This went on a few nights, then i started praying about it before i went to sleep, and they stopped. Only two things may make them go away. One is, stop seeking God, but you cannot be assured they will stop, as there is nothing to make them stop. Or keep seeking God, and pray. That is the only way to know they will stop. It sounds like a serious attack, so don't expect it all to stop right away. Pray before you sleep, pray if you wake up, and seek prayer from others. Let's see, you re-dedicate yourself to God, then you have these evil dreams, and now you're not so close to Him again. Sounds like the darkies got what they wanted out of them. And you. GreenNnice is right, you need to learn to address them, to claim Jesus' authority over them to bind and silence them, and to send them away. What you experienced is not that unusual anymore, spiritual warfare is getting heavier and they're not hiding as much these days. Especially to those with the sense to see them.

Dear sister, stand firm and do not fear. The GOD that holds you in His hand is the One True Living GOD, all-powerful and ever present! The enemies will make you fear for your life. But so what if your flesh is comfortable and safe, but you end up losing your soul for turning away from God and back into the darkness that the spirits of this world is pushing you to do?

Being in Christ, your salvation is sure. You will not lose it, but the enemy will do everything to paralyze you and make you unfruitful. You will be like a non-operational weapon of God against their darkness, and that's what they would want. They have succeeded in making me virtually spiritually dead for years...i don't want you to live the same life of spiritual defeat as i have, dear sister.

Put on all the full Armor of God. Wield His sword of His Spirit and Truth, don the Shield of Faith, and wear the Helmet of Salvation. Earnestly seek HIM in prayer always, asking HIM to reveal Himself to you, and fill you with hunger for HIS Word. And strive to be like Him, dear sister. Delight and live in righteousness and holiness, filling your mind and heart with all that is good. Avoid bad and worldly influences, as much as possible. Prepare for battle, because the enemy will not let up. En Garde!

Had same types of dreams.... called out to Jesus and the demonic attacks stopped - Praise Jesus

I think they will continue to plague in various ways until you make a STAND and NOT allow them to get between you and God. You said that you "have not been as active in striving to be close to God because of these dreams." which means you have let them control you and are still in bondage to your fear. Instead of waking up screaming, have you tried praying and asking God to help you?

Often people see the bad and not the angels that protect and keep them from harm. Besides being scared by what you were seeing, did any harm come to your physically? Did you stop and thank God for keeping you safe?

Don't let the terrors of the night keep you from seeking God and His peace and love. Otherwise they will become terrors during the day. The Enemy will seek to chase you away from the only One who can heal and protect you from their scare tactics.

I've always found this psalm reassuring. Don't be afraid. trust God and pray and He will give you wisdom.

A lot of good things said for you, milady, and, regarding what I said, I just wanted to say that if the spirit does not answer correctly (please re-read my post for what is 'correctly.' ) , then, tell that demon to flee, and, I quote, 'In the name of Jesus,' there is poWer in the name of He who made you, who keeps you, who is you, and, you in Him. Great poWer.

Some good things said, and, the Lord will lead you, stay with Him, but 'in the name of Jesus,' when we bring the name of Jesus to the table of the things in us causing us grief and despair and unrest, they HAVE TO flee.

Important to keep in mind, always: God will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5. He is with you.

There is a reason to your bad dreams, something is going on, not sure what, but evil figures in your dreams are NOT good and the only way you can get them out is God, His power, and, you do it by how?
