It's summer over here and I've seen some ads about people who have gotten cancer from getting burnt.. Just thought I'd share some of this info becuase as a youngster I made the mistake of going to the beach without sunscreen.. I got burnt over and over and over again growing up. Every single summer.

I didn't wear sunscreen because, as a guy with pride in his heart, I always wanted to have a tan and look good. Today my skin has ALOT of spots from sun burns of the past.

The phrase they use over here is that "There's nothing healthy about a tan" and it's true unfortunately. It sure looks good, and if you have a tan the world will sure be impressed with you, but you are literally risking your life, because you might end up with cancer one day. I really, really regret the fact that I never wore sunscreen and just lay out on the beach like a fool. It's amazing what us humans will do in the name of vanity.

Dying for a tan - Here is a video about the dangers, on youtube

As it turns out, it's the sun damage that happens while you are young that can be deadly later on. Even teenagers and people in their early 20s get death sentences from sun exposure related cancers.

Something to keep in mind as summer rolls around in your part of the world.

"The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7

Yes, I used to be very into getting much suntan when I was younger, but most of the time, I did get a natural sun tan easily. Although I sometimes could get a bit burned first and then it became a nice tan afterwards. But now I no longer care much about it, I stopped caring much about this when I was in my early 20ties, and it did annoy me when many thought I was of the ones that can't get easily a suntan, I got this said to me last summer of a lady thinking that I was the kind getting problems as in getting easily sunburned.

But I use most of the time suncream, and I also avoid the sun a lot too. Sometimes I might get a little bit of suntan, as you can't always hide from the sun. But I am fine with this, doesn't matter getting a bit of colour, as long as it happens all natural and gradually, then it is all fine for me. ;) Yet, I don't see anything bad with being white during the summer as well. Being white or pale in the skin is also considered as very beautufil too. :)

What is most important is to being oneself, and to not to following or being much too obsessed about any trends or people's opinons, e.t.c....

I have very poor skin and I've been burnt many times by the sun in the past and it is never pleasant. I should really go to the dermatologist to get a few of these large freckles looked at. Skin cancer is a serious thing.

Me too.. I burn pretty easy. If I'm out in the sun without sunscreen my skin just burns, it doesn't tan much at all lol.

It's definitely worth getting checked out.. because if you get it early it can be an easy fix.. but if it goes untreated it can get into the blood and kill you.. Alot of Aussies die from skin cancer each year. Some of the people in that people I posted in the first post really had a horrible fate.
