Is anyone as excited as I am about this? I grew up watching the movie and it even came out on the year I was born. It was also the first movie I saw in theaters and when I turned 3 I had a "Little Mermaid" themed party. The movie inspired me to start singing, even if it was just in the bathroom shower! LOL

I am just super excited. I guess it's because even though I loved the movie, I never owned it as a child because by the time I was old enough to watch movies, it was back in the Disney vault and not for sale. I was always borrowing it from friends. I got the DVD in high school but man am I excited to see it in Blu-ray.

I don't get it. Isn't it the exact same thing on blu ray?

They tend to add things to the new releases and the BluRay has more features and a crisper, clearer picture. :)

Like someone else said, they have added features. Some stores even have special items on sale right now because of the Blu-ray release. My grandma got me a compact mirror at Sephora just last month with the mermaid on it! I'm just a huge fan of the movie. Some people like "Star Wars"...I like "The Little Mermaid" :)

I had a great childhood full of imagination, adventure, music and some good toys. My brother and I would spend hours upon hours watching movies and playing with our toys together. Back then, childhood was full of innocence. I feel that the innocence of today's youth is being corrupted. I see my cousins going to public school and I feel for them because they are children and yet they are exposed to so many wicked things from other students. The kids of today spend their time playing video games. My cousins stopped playing with real toys at a very young age. It's all about electronics now. Everything is so different from how it was when I was a kid in the 90s.

I'm just a very nostalgic person. Whenever I see things that I enjoyed in my childhood, I get excited. :)

I love Disney! I really do.

This weekend, I wanted to see a movie, but the majority of the ones out there had excessive bad language or great amounts of nudity or excessive violence...except for Dreamworks Despicable Me 2 (which I've already seen twice in theaters), Disney's Planes (which I saw at the D23 Expo in Anaheim the day it was released), and Smurfs 2 (but I didn't enjoy the first one, so I didn't want to see the second one). So, yeah, Disney is cool.

Granted, it is not a Christian business, but it is definitely one of the cleanest options around, aside from actual Christian shows, of course. :)
