As you all might not know, I am a published poet. I have four poems published in two poetry anthologies that are stored in the Library of Congress. I wrote them many MANY years ago as a teenager. I started writing poetry and lyrics at the age of 14 as a sort of an escape from the world around me. I'm going to post three of my published (and copyrighted) poems for your enjoyment. Hope you like them .
Published by The Wexford Poetry Society circa 1996:
Resting Place
I had my dreams in sullen days
For all the weak who lost their ways
I sang my song on dreary nights
I carried on, though lack of sight
Truly, I did not know
My heart would speak
Truly--forever more
My soul shall weep
In present time I face my fears
On down the line, and through the years
And though the past if far behind
The future lingers into my time
Truly, I have no strength
My eyes refuse to see
Truly, they'll come a day
When all my fears will cease to be.
Nature Is Our Bounty
We are all little stars
We floast amongst the darkened space
Like the soldiers in battle and the children in hunger
We scatter ourselves to find our place
A place where dreams are known to be real
Somewhere above beyond
Where no one is evil, no one is criminal
And no one is alone
Behind the wild oak tree
There is a place for me
Nothing bad is there
You can smell the air
There are byrds that sing
Their pleasant songs, they ring
Come find peace with me
Behind the wild oak tree
Published by The National Libray of Poetry circa 1998:
My Praise To Nature
The wings of brutal night spread around days ending
As like the soldier who spreads his blood on enemy soil
All of natures wild blooms lay down their heads
On their grassy pillows to seek their quiet rest
Ah, the day so sweet and youthful, how often we forget
While sunrise brings it's beauty forth
It soon will turn itself to set
The daylight, like a passing dream, fades
Remarkable it's finery
The skys blues submit themselves to white clouds
What a beautiful delight in our heaven
What a heavenly sight to see in the day
As the song byrd sings, the deer chase,
And the water of pond and river shines,
Happiness embraces my once gloomed heart.
Nature finds my peace yet tranquil again.
I give my praise to nature and all it's happy spirit
As I do that of God the utmost power of Earth.
For 'tis He who will nature and prefects it's beauty
'Tis He that nature gives itself to praise His name!
All poems written by Holly Webster and subject under copyright laws (1996, 1998)
