The Wright Brothers actually might not have been the first to fly....
Gustave Whitehead supposedly flew on his own self propelled aircraft nearly 2 years before them... His aircraft is also said to have gone a distance of 1.5 miles... This feat was published all around the world in many news papers.
Wright brothers went 120 feet, and the plane was controlled from the ground.
Neither one of the Wright brothers had a High School Diploma.

The Smithsonian is bound by contract and MUST say that the Wright Brothers were the first to fly. (So much for being a history museum)

Gustave Whitehead was employed by many sponsors to build them a flying aircraft. However, not a single one of his new designs flew.
Although his aircraft engines were highly successful.

Many modern Engineer's have copied Whiteheads first design and it actually flies, despite Whitehead's later failures. Which creates the controversy till this day.

Ohio and North Carolina have made laws against each other over this whole ordeal.

P.s. Rabbits have 28 teeth.

Here's a little-known fact. The wing fairings and door for the TWA "Alpha One" plane, hanging in the Smithsonian were built by my father and one other man.
