:) Have you ever been under a boss who acted more like a jerk than a leader? Have you ever resigned from your job simply because you could not stand your boss?

I'd rather lick a poisonous toad than work for a jerk....

I think the stress of not speaking my mind and not standing up for myself would give me a brain tumor.

The situation has never happened, thankfully. :p My boss is very nice and understanding. :)

good for you ;-) i wish i could have one like that!
i'm thinking of quitting my job next year because of having a boss without common sense! this is the first time that i encounter such person, i don't know why he is still in the position...;-( i just want to be busy with my patients rather than seeing his face...that's how most of us feel in our workplace...

weeelll...my boss is my husband, so, even on the few occasions I have seen him act like a 'jerk', I didn't quit. ;)

At the last job I had (like, 10 years ago) my boss was my doctor, and a brother in the faith.
It was a dream job, except for one of the nurses. She had some...problems, but we prayed for one another, and last I heard she's become a different person, for the better.
I just hope she'd be able to say the same for me!

I'll surely be praying for you, though!

Pastors do it too. And that's worse. After all, they're not paying us to put up with it.

I worked for a jerk at the last place I worked...the whole environment was messed up, in my department. Upper management would berate people publicly and bully some of the employees, and they would actually hold people back who tried to transfer to other areas of the company. Explained why the turnover was so high. I could write books on all the terrible things that went on, I'm sure the HR department could fill a library with all the complaints. I was careful to document everything I did to protect myself.

Bottom story short, I applied and applied and interviewed and interviewed until I landed another job, and put in my 2 weeks notice. The funniest thing was how shocked they were, my boss and my boss's boss each pulled me aside to grill me on why I was dissatisfied, what I wanted to do with my life, what I was being offered.

Each of my employed sisters has gone through a monster boss too...maybe its a rite of passage, lol.

Hang in there sister, and continue to pray. Also, try not to quit until you secure the next job.

I don't know for certain, but it seems there a plenty more jobs like this today than there ever was. The competition for work is tremendous. So many today are working more than one job to make ends meet and have a little something extra.

It's hard to imagine how companies treating their employees this way is beneficial. I suppose they figure, since they pay less, they must increase motivational pressure?

I have had a boss who avoided contact and never wanted to build rapport with employees (they were pretty much locked up in their office ) and an inconsiderate one who had unrealistic expectations from his employees. I didn't resign these jobs because I needed the money for the upcoming school year and I loved the job duties.
