Hi. Since 2012, I am a Harry Potter fan. However, I am not that of a fan anymore since about 2 months ago. And now a pastor is telling me that I should get rid of Harry Potter stuff, and I don't remember if he said that God said to him that I need to get rid of the Harry Potter stuff.

In 2012, I went into the occult, but it was science that redirected me to the occult because I thought that magic is science, and that time I didn't believe that God and Jesus exist, and I was an atheist in 2011. Harry Potter didn't make me get involved in the occult and I am being honest. During the occult, I tried to make the character named Severus Snape real, but it never worked, and all what happened is that some demons took the form of Severus Snape and abused me in any ways. Severus Snape NEVER became real, and he'll never become real, and he is not real. During the occult I also tested some of the Potter spells to see if they actually work but none of them worked at all as they are fictional spells, and I also had a wizarding world "Astral plane" thing during the occult, or I was delusional about wizarding world existing and me being there. And I was in the occult before I became a Harry Potter fan, or I was a Harry Potter fan before the occult, but I swear that Harry Potter did NOT make me get involved with the occult. I got the idea of going to the occult only through science and the first purpose was to attempt to make Severus Snape real. I was like "okay, I see how magic is pretty scientific, so I will just start doing magic". In 2013 I became a Christopagan. I was becoming a Christian, but I still couldn't let the occult go. But then in 2014, I completely quit the occult, and a couple or few months ago I gave up my Severus Snape "tulpa" what I had because the tulpa was really a demon who pretended to be Severus Snape, and the wizarding world "Astral plane" was only a deception or just my delusion. During the occult I experienced a lot of demonic problems and attacks.

I don't want to get rid of my Harry Potter stuff because I want to keep them as memories because about 70% of the Harry Potter stuff were just normal Potterheadness, and during my Potterhead times I was very much in love with Severus Snape, so I want to keep all the Severus Snape stuff as my memories...

Do I really have to get rid of my Harry Potter stuff? Does God tell you that I need to throw away my Harry Potter stuff?

I threw away and I am still throwing away occult things and things related to the occult, and I am not experiencing so much demonic problems anymore, so I am guessing that Harry Potter is not really the problem.

Also, is there any expert Christian who can mentor me in Christianity?

And please, no bashing or bullying now. As I said once, I am pretty weird, but I am not a troll just because I tell weird things... But I am really troubled.

troubledgirl, it sounds like you are idolizing this Severus Snape character, and on top of that, are obsessed with him!! There are no "expert christians". The fact that demons took the shape of this fictional character should be a red flag waving in your face to get rid of ALL things connected to Harry Potter and Severus Snape!! As long as you keep these things and idolize them more than you idolize God, you are gonna continue to have demonic issues!! The demons know that you idolize this character--therefore they will attach their powers onto it, until you get rid of all of it!!

When I say all of it, I mean ALL!! Everything!! Every picture, poster, etc etc. It HAS to go!! Once its gone, pray to God and ask his forgiveness for idolizing a fictional character more than Him. He will gladly forgive you. :) I also had this issue once. It was'nt demonic, but I had several pics/posters, etc of a few celebrities, and I focused more time and attention on them than I did on God. So I ended up getting rid of them all. That is what you need to do also.

I agree with blue_ladybug, I think is it imperative that you get rid of it all right now. God will fill your life with so many things that are so far superior to this Harry Potter stuff! But you must dedicate yourself complete to Him and to study of the Bible.

Yes, there are no "expert Christians," but I trust there are mature Christians in your church who would be willing to do what is called discipling. What this is is one-on-one study with a mature Christian (of the same gender!) who can guide you into Christian maturity.

I wish you God's blessing as you begin your new life in Christ!

Oh but God is really the most important thing to me. And I don't idolize Harry Potter stuff or Severus Snape anymore.

Then don't get rid of your harry potter stuff. What is important is that you place God first above all else. However, that does not mean you can't be a fan of a fictional franchise. Should an LoTR fan be forced to give up her love for the books and films to be a follower of Christ? Or how about a star wars fan? I think not. Yes there can be a time in which it can become an unhealthy obsession (that case you should stop it or tone it down) and you are putting it above God, however if your not doing that (or at least not anymore), I don't see anything wrong with keeping the harry potter stuff you enjoyed and remaining a fan :)

Some Christians have a problem with the supernatural/magic, even if its just a fictional representation in a fictional story. Other Christians don't (I do know some Christian harry potter fans myself), which is why there are Christian fans of magic/power related fiction (LoTR, Narnia, Star Wars, etc).

There are times when speaking to a pastor, and following his advice, is the right and smart choice. However that is not always the case, and the pastor can be wrong sometimes (all of us are human after all). I would agree with him if you right now had a very unhealthy relationship with harry potter, but if your now just a fan of the series, I would say to not follow through with what he wants. Perhaps you should talk to other Christians in real life beyond just the pastor to get their opinions on this matter.

Also what do you believe God wants you to do?

Well, I feel that God is not forcing me to get rid of Harry Potter stuff... But I am still scared if He says that I need to... I wish I could hear Him... I cannot hear Him for some reason. I just don't know that if He is talking to me...

Troubledgirl you are not wierd or a troll. You are very spiritually discerning, which is a gift. If only more of us were so gifted. A lot of Christians have trouble with the spiritual, thinking it's just a fictional story. But there are spiritual attachments to things you put a spiritual attachment to. True you may not use them as idols of worshp anymore, but do you really let a recovering alcoholic keep beers in the fridge? Or does God command us to destroy our former idols?

Your statement "I don't want to get rid of my Harry Potter stuff because I want to keep them as memories because about 70% of the Harry Potter stuff were just normal Potterheadness, and during my Potterhead times I was very much in love with Severus Snape, so I want to keep all the Severus Snape stuff as my memories..." sets chills down my spine and all my spidey senses alight. As long as you want to remember that love you will be subject to it. It may lay dormant for a time but it will come back and tug on your leash. Maybe with 7 buddies. You need to confess and rebuke those feelings. Love you hold for a demonic entity is love you don't make available to God.

Listen to ladybug on this. You don't just need to get rid of them, you need to repent of them. Anything less leaves a door open for a later attack. Make a clean break. That's what this 'expert' Christian says. And what any expert Christian would do.

troubledgirl, the fact that God is (now) the most important thing to you is great. But you can still be a fan of Harry Potter WITHOUT keeping all the memorabilia. Considering that you did so much satanic stuff to try to conjure up Severus Snape, it really is best that you get rid of everything. God says to have no other idols before Him. For a long time, you idolized Severus Snape more than God, and it is time for you to let it all go and get rid of the Harry Potter stuff..Like I said before, until you do, you will continue to experience demonic issues!! I have read that demons attach themselves to the idol being worshipped, such as the Buddha statue. I don't know if that is true or not, but it does seem plausible, so why take the chance?! Get rid of the Harry Potter stuff.

To me, the fact that you're so reluctant to get rid of it tells me that you STILL revere it more than God. I had trouble getting rid of all my celeb posters, but I did it because it was becoming an obsession that I paid more attention to than I did to God. Now I dont even miss them. And neither will you, once it is gone.

I wasn't in love with a demon, I was in love with the legitimate Severus Snape character, and I will never return to witchcraft and I am being honest. But since the demon took the form of Severus Snape, I thought that the demon was Severus, so therefore I liked the demon too... But when I found out it was a demon, my romantic feelings for the demon started fading away... Why is it not enough that I never return back to the idolatry and occult without throwing the Harry Potter stuff away? Imagine if a person has to throw away the loveliest childhood toy because the police says so, would that be upsetting?

The properties of magic directly opposes science. As soon as something that appears magical is scientifically explained, it ceases to be magic. Hopefully, you have a better understanding of what science actually is now. If not, I highly recommend you study what science is, how it works, and that you pick a scientific subject to look at such as biology or astronomy (not to be confused with astrology, which is NOT science!).

OK I'm going to be really direct here. By your own statements above it is clear that you are uncertain which came first, Harry Potter or your occult involvement. You also say that your first purpose for being in the occult was to make Snape real. Clearly Harry Potter was a huge part of your occult experience even though you try to deny it. Sounds like you are only recently done with it or may even still be coming out of it. So what memories are you wanting to keep exactly? The memories of being abused by demons impersonating Snape? The memories of delusionally believing you were in the wizarding world.

Please don't try to compromise on this, be guided by your pastor's wisdom and get rid of it. As far as someone to mentor you in Christianity your pastor should be a good start, if you aren't willing to listen to him what makes you think you will be willing to listen to someone else when you don't like what they say. Whether Harry Potter is harmless or not in and of itself, it is tied up enough with your occultic experience that you would be wise to get rid of it all and steer clear.

As other stuff to read I would highly recommend the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis and John White's Archives of Anthropos series (Especially the Tower of Geburah which also has a boy who wants to try out magic and gets it from the wrong source). There are some good Christian stories out there and right now it sounds like if you are going to immerse yourself in fantasy worlds it would be good to read about worlds created by Christians to reflect Christian values.

No, ofcourse Harry Potter did not turn me into a witch... Because I always knew that Harry Potter magic is not real. And yes, the Severus Snape demons were non-physical... But I could see them through my mind. I sensed that what did they look like. And the science redirected me to magic because I really thought magic was scientific because I thought it was related to the cosmos and space... I didn't believe in any Pagan deities either until Loki the Norse deity (it's a demon though) appeared in June or July 2012 and started abusing me too...

Magic is not scientific, it is demonic!! Magic does not come from God, it comes from Satan. ANYTHING that is not of God, is from Satan. You are playing a very dangerous game, my dear. The demons will keep abusing you until you get rid of every trace of what you once idolized above God. If you think the abuse and demonic events will stop simply because you no longer believe that Severus Snape is real, you are sadly mistaken. Demons are NOT easy to get rid of!! If God is truly the most important thing in your life now, then you should have absolutely no difficulty in getting rid of the Harry Potter stuff. You cannot worship both God AND Satan--you have to choose one or the other.

You said a demon appeared in 2012 and started abusing you. Could you go into more detail? I'm assuming you witnessed this demon through your mind as well? How did it abuse you? What specifically happened?

I read Harry Potter, realizing it was, ''dark,'' but finding it to be just in fun.. Until, that is, a wizard was in the tomb and was, ''resurrected.'' No way, uh uh. It is clearly from satan and I am extremely saddened that so many follow it, as you did. The fact that you are struggling to get rid of, ''books,'' is worrisome in itself. Pray lots and read the Bible every day, even if it is only 1 scripture. It is life transforming and you will begin finding it very easy to get rid of things of this world that stand between you and your love for Christ. God bless you sister. Will pray for you

Are you sure it was a demon (there could be another explanation)? Have you talked to anyone (beyond just us on this forum) about this encounter? Is it still bothering you?
