I accept excepting that. Your OK if you no what will affect the effect.
This reminds me Willie.
I know that the post above was a joke............

But?

.......I'm cool with others spelling, punctuation, sentence structure.....
but can we start a thread on ONE thing about grammar?

Your=Your
You're =You are.

This is the only thing that drives me bonkers.

That's it.....I'm cool with the rest of what and how people post.

Oh.....and commas are our friends too.

I have serious problems with a number of contractions that don't seem to be recognized as such.

There are other "similar-sounding" words, too. For instance... there & their... affect & effect... to, too, & two... then & than... where & were...weather & whether... and, I could fill half a page if I were to keep going. I really don't understand it. Didn't all there guys and gals go to the same public schools I attended....... And, I failed 7th, failed 8th, failed 9th... and finally quit during my second try at 9th.

I'm just being honest about this. Almost everyone on these forums is better educated than I am (although I DID finally go back to school), yet they don't seem to be able to compose even some of the simplest sentences, and often seem to have never heard of basic punctuation, nor learned what a paragraph is designed to do.

Referring to last evening's Troll...well I have to be honest I was suspicious of "Rob" from the word go for the simple reason that anyone calling themselves a Christian and not using a capitol "G" for God's name raises suspicion with me and so upon checking the response to my question I posed to him last evening it came as no surprise to discover my suspicions were founded.

I thought others might find this useful to bear in mind for future Trolls/WUMmers.
Actually, while i prefer G over g for God as well, i've noticed that it's not that common to do anymore, in particular among younger people. So it's really, to me, a zero indicator of anything.

.

Their/There/They're are a lot of words that we all can accidentally misuse?

Overall, I never really have a problem with it. .....UNLESS, they are trying to insult me.

When someone comes at me in a debate about how "uneducated" I am on the Bible, and they can't even get the "you're" part right, it really throws off the whole argument to me. I can't help but to think this.

I mess up two......hear and their.

When you take the British and American spelling variations into consideration it gets even more complicated.

Yeah, I just love someone trying to educate me on the subtleties of Hebrew or Greek verb conjugations or tense usages when they can't even handle their own native language adequately enough to pass 5th grade English.

I have mild dyslexia and struggle with remembering the differences between affect and effect, but otherwise, I'm good.

Want to remember the difference?

Affect with an A is an Action. (It's a verb.... usually)

Effect with an E is an End-result (It's a noun)
