Truth or Lies?

Lie- an inaccurate or false statement; an imposter.
Truth- that which is in accordance with fact or reality.
If you believe in God and the Bible you will know the story of Adam and Eve and when Eve ate an apple from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told Eve, “of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Not die physically, clearly, but spiritually.) so why did she eat from it when God had warned her? Because the ‘father of lies’ (AKA Satan), did what he did best and she had been deceived, he tricked her into thinking God was limiting her to all the “good stuff”. So SHE CHOSE to listen to Satan and then her life got hard and she experienced hurt, and she did die spiritually.

How does this relate to me and you?

Have you ever been told you’re fat? You’re ugly? Worthless? Boring? Stupid? A freak? Or even that you’re not cool because you don’t do stuff that “cool people” do? Maybe even that your parents don’t love you? They got divorced or they fight and its your fault? You’re alone? No one cares? You’re held back by your sin? There is no purpose for your life? That you’re an outcast? Or anything that digs deep and hurts you and breaks you down.
Well then you’ve experienced lies. I’m not speaking about lies you tell you parents like, “I’ve cleaned my room properly”, when in reality everything’s stuffed under the bed, no, I’m talking about stuff that causes you to act upon those lies, fall deeply into them. Lies that are there to ultimately destroy your life. These lies aren’t put in your life by you, but rather by Satan whom, as I said above, is ‘the father of lies’.
This blog post wasn’t created to show you how to stop Satan from throwing lies into your lives, because that cant happen, but rather to make you strong enough to reject those lies and seek Gods truth.

Back to Eve. Now Eve chose to act upon Satans lie (which was that God was limiting her to all the good stuff) and let him win. In a book I’m reading it puts in nicely by saying, “temptation cannot burst into flames in your life unless you supply oxygen by believing and acting on Satans lies.” And that is exactly what Eve did! She supplied oxygen to the lie Satan was telling her. If there is anything that has been said upon your life that hurts you dearly and it’s consuming all your time and energy by thinking and acting upon it then STOP. It will only hurt more if u keep letting it get to you, if you keep believing it, rather seek the truth which overcomes those lies, the truth that will set you free from any bondage this lie has caused.

Away from lies and onto the truth, how do we know when something is true? We go to a trustworthy friend? Someone who knows a lot? we ask other people to see if what they say about it backs up the last persons opinion? That seems pretty legit. So lets see, is God any of those?
Trustworthy- yes
Knows a lot- knows everything
Asking other people- his 12 disciples can prove his truths and people whom have had or have an intimate relationship with God can back everything up.
Okay so it’s safe to say that God IS the ‘father of truth’. So lets take a look some of the things God states is truth
You’re not alone: “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
You are not a mistake: Psalm 139:15-16
You are beautiful: “you are fearfully and wonderfully made.” “For you were made in my image” (I’m sure we can agree that God is beautiful)
You are not worthless: “i gave up everything I loved so that I might gain your love”
You have a purpose: “my plan for you has always been filled with hope.”
You’re not an outcast: “by me you are made holy.”
Your sins are forgotten: “Jesus came to demonstrate that I am for you not against you.” (John 3:16)
All these are taken from Gods word, he said all of this, maybe not in that exact English as I was using, but he still said it. He spoke truth over your life and so you should believe it.

Which one sounds better?
Gods truth or Satans lies?

Imagine if Eve made the decision to follow Gods truth, do you think the world would still be as it is now? I don’t. So since you have the same authority that was rightfully Adam and Eves, shouldn’t we make that change? Shouldn’t we be the example and take up the offer of Gods truth and live in it? It’s not too late if you’ve already fallen into the hole filled with lies, Build a ladder, a ladder of TRUTH, and make your way out.

I encourage you to go read the Bible, that’s where I found Gods truth most revealed to me, not through tv shows or magazines or even people’s judgments. Reject the lies, don’t even listen to them, block them off. And when god speaks, be open to listen to what he says.

Do you want to destroy your life or make it purpose filled and live it with joy?
Do you choose lies or do you choose truth?

Isn't God a lot harder to hear than a friend, though? And people have so many different ways of interpreting what the Bible says, how do you know what is right?

Yes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try listen to what Gods trying to say? I felt that that's what God was telling me was right. I never once said in this post that I was completely right, I genuinely just posted it because it was my thoughts and I wanted to share it with people, so it's my personal interpretation of the scriptures.

I was not attacking you. There's nothing personal about it; you are absolutely right. I was hoping you, or someone else, would have some answers to help us all do it better. I'm here to discuss, and that means asking questions and exchanging ideas.

I realize that. I just want to make certain you did not misunderstand. Threads are just the words; no body language or tome of voice. Things can get confusing. So sometimes I overcommunicate.
