When we visit them, it should be so much different than when they visit us. Our message is true, theirs is not. We have the Holy Spirit to guide, direct, and lead before us. They have none of these things. When we compare our visiting to theirs, are we comparing apples to oranges?

How effective is it, really? I feel like I have to hide in my own house every time they knock on the door lol. I can only assume most people don't like to be bothered at home with that, at least I don't. I don't think people would be any more receptive to christians knocking on their door than they would be to mormons or anyone else, so I would probably say their are more effective and beneficial ways to share about Jesus.

I think a lot depends on the subculture around where you are going to visit. I have been to some places where people just sit out on their porch on hot summer days and nights just hoping someone will wander by so they can strike up a conversation. Our church group used to go to some poor areas and lonely people would be waiting for us to arrive just so they could have someone to talk to. It was hard to tell them we had to leave. They would have talked forever, I think.

I believe time would be better spent witnessing to family, friends, acquaintances, in Bible study and prayer.

It must be good to live in a place like that.

Unfortunately it doesn't happen like that where I live. These days when a stranger knocks on
your door the first question is what are they trying to sell you, the second is are they a con man.

Then you look down at the size of their feet and realise it's the gas or electric man come to
read the metre! Has anyone ever noticed how they all seem to have size 20 boots! Usually muddy!

I think it takes a lot of courage. I have a hard enough time sharing the Gospel with people I know let alone complete strangers.

Hi there, personally I associate door to door evangelism with the experiences I've had from Jehovah witness and Mormons. And I do believe this would be the same experience that others would link it to. I would have to ask myself, who has successfully done this? And do they have any authentic experiences of salvation? I personally believe there are better ways off reaching people. For instance I'm staying with my elderly grandmother who lives in a housing area especially for elderly and disabled people. Although we have so say gardeners who come once a month to cut the grass and do the gardens, really they don't do much at all. We have a large garden area which is full of bushes perennials and biennials. I've taken it upon myself to serve the people living here by pruning and weeding the gardens regularly. I attribute the work I do to my faith. This has helped me build relationships with the locals, and also has got me some lovely apple pies, cakes and what not :p! FOr me personally I find this a better way than just knocking on peoples doors. I think your very limited with what you can share with people on their doorsteps. I think also it can be a breach of peoples personal space when we knock at their doors. The way I prefer is to do something in the city centre with a banner, handing out coffee and offering people prayer for healing and other issues. You can clearly represent Jesus through the banner, and also it gives people the opportunity to accept or reject your advances in a less confrontation manner. I've seen allot of people blessed through this mode of evangelism.

The JWs can do my block of 50 house in about three minutes. No one wants to talk to them. Not even take to Watch Tower.
