I wish someone had explained that to me when I was still young...
I figure most people should do what they like to do and can do, and then, if that requires an education, get the education.

I have a four-year degree, but I didn't take into account "can do." I have the degree to be an English teacher, and yet, dumb. I can't get grammar! Really makes for a bad English teacher. So my degree "earned" me the right to work in many fields, but nothing paid more than a secretary could make.

Meanwhile, the educated one in our family is hubby. He went to night school for 18 months to learn how to do HVAC work. From what he learned about heaters as a mechanic, he became a steamfitter for the government. And when the government base was going to close, the government paid for 13 months more night school, so he could learn to do computer networking or repair/fix computers. Add all the 1 week-6 weeks seminars the feds gave him, (safety, asbestos removal, etc.), he's literally gone to school longer than I did. And was always paid twice what I was.

Get serious about writing Christian music and sell it to the singers... Or write for them... saw you like to do that in your profile. Don't quit your day job until it takes off. Doing what you like and working for God at the same time.
The likelihood of making a living writing songs is the likelihood of becoming the next J.K. Rowling as a novel writer. A friend of mine has been writing novels since he was young. (He's in his late 60's now.) After Book #13 came out, he was returning from a writing conference in NOLA, (he lives in Indiana.) His old car broke down. It took him two months at his fulltime-job as a prof to afford the repairs. He's now past Book #17, and has finally gotten to the point of quitting his day job. He's renown in the writing community and in his genre. He's even written books on how to write. (That's how we met. lol) He has been a successful writer for 2-3 decades, and yet just now giving up his day job.

Song writers get paid less than novel writers.

Actually if you read my profile you'd notice I am strictly "against" selling Songs I write for God,because I feel it is "stealing from/cheating God" to accept money for something that I do for God that is only possible because of God,just like if I became a child Christian teacher at a church,I would reject money there too because both are things I like doing for God that only are fruitful because of the holy spirit,so it really feels "contradictory" because in either case to me it would feel like I'm saying to God"I faithfully try to serve you but that isn't enough I need to use your name and songs I write for you to make money, and I appreciate the holy spirit for teaching children your word but I need a salary because I don't trust you to give the increase when I work at my regular job",see for me I can't do that, after all God has done for me it wouldn't feel right to "use" his name, word,or songs he gives me for "personal gain" because they are to be for him and encouraging others to come to God,not for "personal profit",that's why I only sing my songs at churches and never ask for money for them because whatever is gained should be for God in someway, such as churches receiving donations perhaps due to the songs but ideally the money is used for God by having it used for those in need in churches or outside churches, and for spreading his word.
I know that sounds rather a harsh thing to say but it's just the way I feel about it and it's one of the few things I am not about to change my mind about.
Our whole lives are to serve God. I served God with my talent to clean, with my talent to do paperwork, with my talent for words, with my talent for numbers, and with my talent for customer service.

Do you think missionaries shouldn't receive money for what they do either?

Everything is to serve the Lord, and yet, he still expects us to work, if we can.

I love those! I especially like the one where the report read:

"#3 engine missing."

The solution read: "Found it! It was hiding out on one of the wings."
Reminds me of an old joke.

"Attention, passengers. This is your pilot. There are four engines on this plane, but we just lost one of them. Nothing to worry about, but we will be a little late."

15 minutes later.

"Attention, passengers. This is your pilot. We've just lost another engine. Nothing to worry about, but we will be late."

15 minutes later.

"Attention, passengers. This is your pilot. We've just lost another engine. Nothing to worry about, but we will be late."

A passenger talking to the person in the next seat: "If we lose another engine, I'll be late for my meeting."

Yeah and that's my point, some money is reserved for God,some is reserved for us,the difference is in"if we need money" for example if like you were talking about, missionary work is what someone does and has no other source of income then I believe that it's alright to use God's money because he would want us to not suffer,I'm talking about the whole Christian music industry,my belief is that it's better to have a job that pays decent instead of seeking to sell merchandise that uses God's word or requires his spirit to create, because to me it would be profiting from God instead of working and trusting God to give the increase.

Hi Joe I think you might have missed the point, without profiting from
what they are doing, many Christian musicians would not have the time or resources
to make music for the Lord. They would be too busy working in a secular job trying to
make ends meet.

If you have a talent for singing song writing, then how are you going to get it out there
if you are too busy and struggling to live on your 8 dollars an hour and won’t accept
any income from your talent. Maybe, just maybe God wants you to make a living and
spread His word from your music. Maybe you need to pray about this.

Job interviewing is sell yourself as a person; it's about getting them to like you. If you are good with people, following standard operating procedures, and can look them sop's up online then a call center does bring in more money. But you have to be able to sit for a long period of time. I started at a tellicuminations company at 15.00 and hour and within 2 years I made 20.00 an hour on the phone in customer service. The company I worked for also payed for my degree.

The biggest question you can explore is "What is God's will for my life" "How does God want me to serve?" It's the starting/end point and the definition of your purpose in this world before you head for your final journey home.

Having grown up as a christian, when I was heading into university I knew it didn't matter what I wanted to do, or what my interests were. My focus was "What does God want me to do" and so I had to weed through all my other interests to find out how I could best give back in this life at the Lord's direction and it's been an amazing journey ever since.

From my own perspective, it was never enough to look back at a degree I completed many years prior, after high school and just be satisfied. Completing diplomas, a masters degree and professional development along the way while working in the field, ensured that I kept up with an ever changing society so I could be at my best to serve.

The best thing you can do, like all other answers we're searching for, is to pray to God. Explore the questions deep within your soul, with quiet time with the Lord. Say "I am your servant Lord. I am ready, I want to serve you! Fill me up with your guidance about what my next step should be! Show me Lord!" Pray this and I promise you won't go wrong. Blessings!

As a guy that works in nursing, I'd recommend a job in the medical field. You seem to be the type of person that would love to help people and you seem caring & compassionate. Depending on what you're actually doing, it pays quite well and you would always have job security. Just a thought.

Well not a bad idea, since every area needs this sort of trade,it sometimes can be dishonest but overall at least you can help people with getting homes, and since I prefer honesty I could be sure someone actually gets a decent home.
Oh no there are laws that require RE agents to disclose the truth about the house. If they don't and the buyers find out, they can lose their license and get sued. They're not really hardselling like car salesmen do, they are more or less just presenting the home's features and being friendly and professsional about it.
