Romans 8:38-39 ESV
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 4:23-27 ESV
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Prestley: Romans 8, and the wonderful end of the chapter, is a glorious part of God's Word which gives real meaty doctrine and truth for our lives of faith! :)

Blessings.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him;
and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him
and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy...

Great verse! I'm more familiar with it in the King James (as you might be more familiar with the Statenvertaling? :) )

Romans 5:3-5 ESV

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Prestley: A heartfelt digestion of these great truths in Romans gives far more knowledge of divine truth than many professors of theology have. A simple love for these truths goes far.

Blessings.

Proverbs 2:1-6 NLT

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the lord , and you will gain knowledge of God. For the lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

All of Psalm 23 right now.
Yes and especially the rod and staff eventually comfort us, not sure if ever at first when tribulations first confront us. learning to be comforted immediately seeing Father has a plan to show me something as that jackass spoke to that prophet to warn him of the troubles in front of him
Now seeing trouble as not troubles, moree so as to learn from, and not as fear more as Love to me from Father who just cares for us all you think?

i'm 75 years old and in shenzhen china. i have a chinese family that includes a chinese grand daughter (who adopted me 8 years ago) who is now talking about moving to shenzhen when she gets her masters degree. i have stage IV prostate cancer and she wants to be with me. i live with a chinese family that has become my own. i guess my favorite verse, after a rather irregular (to say the least) life, is that all things surely work for good ...... just take his hand.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2 Peter 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

John 6:53 So Jesus said it again, “With all the earnestness I possess I tell you this: Unless you eat the flesh of the Messiah* and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.

A hard saying yes, bet it is meant Spiritual, to come to life in Christ covered, protected by the blood, whew, wow.
And the flesh part, go to be his flesh takes over my flesh provided I am willing to be used by Father thanks to Son, and for me not to be proud and boastful as I have many a times, nor too guilty one can't move and have their new being

2 Corinthians

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: [SUP]16 [/SUP]to the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? [SUP]17 [/SUP]For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Psalm 36

1
The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart,
that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes,
until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:
he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed;
he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.

5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains;
thy judgments are a great deep:
O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.
7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God!
therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life:
in thy light shall we see light.
10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee;
and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 Let not the foot of pride come against me,
and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen:
they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.

Ecclesiastes 6:9-12 KJV

Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit. That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he. Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better? For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

Prestley: Good and thoughtful passage to quote. I like to read Ecclesiastes together with the New Testament which speaks of the Lord Jesus, 'Who of God is made unto us wisdom...' etc. (1 Corinthians 1.30).

This world is indeed a vain and empty place. In Christ it's so different. The world goes after vanity. The Christian has instead a heavenly hope.

Sometimes vanity by itself can be a bit hard to define. For example, some ppl claim that all jewelry and even tattoos are vain, and therefore avoid them. I'm not sure about this. It's interesting that the Lord Himself gave jewelry to Zion in Ezekiel 16.12. And a lot of Christians find faith based tattoo designs, far from vain, to be deeply meaningful and helpful in witness. (I hope your plans are coming along okay, assuming you haven't changed your mind.)

This sort of passage can encourage us, when reading the New Testament also, to find complete satisfaction in the Person of Christ.

Blessings.
