Update 10:00 PMJasper Police tell us a 5-year-old girl was attacked by a pit bull near her home on Preston Avenue. Neighbors who saw it happen tell us, her injuries were brutal: her face, ears, and skull were severely damaged.{}Police here on the scene say she is in stable condition. She has been transported by Air Vac to Children's of Alabama. Neighbors are telling us, this was a family pet. They aren't sure why the dog {}began attacking her. They said the dog has never acted vicious before.One of the neighbors who saw it happen told me the young girl had just been by to visit her. She said she saw her walk back towards her house and sit down and started reading a Bible they gave her. Just a short time later, they heard her scream for help.{}Right now, we're told the pit bull is being quarantined. There's no word yet on what will happen to the dog.Update 8:47 p.m.
ABC 33/40 reporter Sarah Snyder has learned through the Jasper Police Department that the little girl is in stable condition at Children's of Alabama after being attacked by her brother's pit bull. The dog has since been quarantined. Police say the dog was up-to-date on its shots and vaccinations.

A child in Jasper was seriously injured in a dog attack Friday night, police said on its Twitter page.
According to Regional Paramedical Services, the victim was being airlifted to the hospital from the National Guard Armory off of Highway 69 after being found unresponsive near Preston Avenue. Jasper police were assisting at the scene.

leviticus 19;19 do not cross breed your animals or mate them with any other breed. not only could it be cross breeding but the DNA OF THE BRAIN IS DIFFERENT. wE AND ALL LIVING THINGS HAVE A UNIQUE FINGERPRINT OF AN ORIGINAL ONLY ONE IDENTIFIABLE MARKER OF IT IS YOU, DNA, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CROSS A BIRD WITH A ROOSTER, DON'T ASK. Last weekend my daughter and I wanted to take the dogs to a different spot to walk because it was raining out, and the particular place we had chosen has quite a few trees about on the sides of the path alongside an old railroad track in the midst of blueberry fields, so we thought that would be nice for a change and protect us a bit from the precipitation... but when we arrived, someone was in an abandoned lot near where we had parked, and they were playing with their pit bull, who was picking up and carrying around in his jaws an abandoned car tire for sport. We sat a few minutes hoping they would leave before we got out of the car, because both my daughter's dogs are under twenty pounds... but the person made no move to quit their frolicking with the preoccupied dog, so we eventually got out of the car and went along the path away from them. Pit bulls do make me a bit nervous. Some people are defensive of owning such creatures as pets, but I am of the opinion that there is no need for such an unpredictable, potentially fatally vicious breed to be kept as pets or allowed freely out in public spaces. They should be leashed and muzzled at all times. Want to enjoy your dog at an off leash dog park? Don't get a pit bull!
