I just had the best teriyaki chicken with steamed California Calrose rice, not over-sauced but naturally flavored highlights... And organic cottage cheese with fresh pineapple chunks on top, a cooling offset taste.. I used one of those screw- in type twist slicers for the pineapple for the first time, it works extremely well! I thought it would waist a lot, but it doesn't. Oh, and a side green romaine salad with salted sunflower seeds and garnishing, slightly peppered from a grinder... Oh thank heaven for fat, it really helps us control eating, because good food is the bomb! God's so smart isn't He?! I'm having Lamb Sunday, I eat that about every Olympic year.

Drove down the street to Long John Silver's and ordered two pieces of chicken and an order of rice. Not necessarily the healthiest meal but it sure tastes good.

I'm going to try my hand at cream of asparagus soup this weekend. I got a really good deal on fresh asparagus at the store, and it's a recipe I've never tried before. Doesn't look hard, but it's always the easy looking ones that are deceptively difficult to make correctly.

I'm in the process of making Au Gratin potatoes to accompany tonight's supper. I'm taking pictures to document and hope to be able to post the results in the Heavenly Recipes section later this evening once my chores are done.

These are the best Au Gratin potatoes I have eaten. The directions are simple to follow - just add water.

I pawed through the kitchen unenlightened and uninspired.
Then there it was.
It lurked in the back, and grabbed hold of my hand.
Before I could have a second thought, I pulled some sausage from the freezer, dusted off the top, and cranked open the can.

No one is here to stop me. No one at all.
I am eating sauerkraut.

I did toss the last of the pineapple in the pan with the kraut & sausage to sweeten it a bit, though.
To a good (mostly) German gal, this sounds AMAZING!!

I'm feeling frisky, so I'm in the middle of prepping tonight's supper while sitting at the table reading the book of Acts.

Found a deal on steak, so going to grill one up to a nice medium rare for Dad and I. Made some twice-baked potatoes with bacon, blue cheese and caramelized onions. Chopped up a small iceberg lettuce salad. Cooking down some fresh mushroom in clarified butter to have with the steak.

Sometimes, I can get DOWN in the kitchen.

I spend some time in the kitchen too. Yesterday I made my special French Toast for my wife and myself. It has a caramelize coating on the top side. Spooned on glazed blackberries and some whipped cream.
