Hey, why when you honor our parents is it also honoring God when some parents don't have the best in mind for their kids? I'm not saying my parents are lime this, there not. But, I know some parents like this.

I always looked at it like anything else that involves doing good things for people who aren't necessarily the best on earth: do what Christ would do in every aspect of your life. I imagine it would honor God in this instance because said people are responsible for giving you the gift of life. I'm sure there's scripture somewhere that'd give a much better answer but I couldn't find it right off hand lol

Parents represent God's authority as well as the work boss and our government. We are to submit to their rule even when we don't agree unless they push us to do something strictly forbidden by God's Word.

You are honoring that God used your parents to create you. Like crossnote pointed out, they have been given authority over you, just as the government was given authority. However, both parents and government can ask you to do what is contrary to what God asks of you, and neither has a right to do that.

Hitler is an example of making laws contrary to God's laws, neither parents or government has the authority to do that.

If you cant love an honor your Mother and Dad that you can see, how can you love God or His Son Christ which you have never seen. It just like they said if a woman or man treats their mother wrongly they will do the same thing to their mates it all starts at home to a certain extent. Because God has given each an everyone to have free will to choose who they will serve God or Satan. You cant say you love Christ when you don't love the one that brought your flesh body into existence nor the womb to laid her life on the line by having you. Remember when your having a baby you have one foot in the grave and the other on the bed.

SUbmitting to parental authority does not mean they have permission to control your life even outside of the roof...I do NOT respect parents who use that verse to justify their controlling behaviors.

As a child, you obey, unless it is harmful or sinful. Later in life, you bring honor to your parents by living a godly life and caring for them. One forgotten virtue when it comes to honoring your parents is not talking bad about them. How many people complain about their parents and say how 'bad' they are and how 'wrong' they are? That is dishonoring your parents.
