When I was first saved, we were told to read the book of John first. I think that was very helpful.
The gospel of John is an excellent place to start.
It reveals more fully the divinity of Jesus Christ :)

Can I ask a question I'm confused about the New Testament and Old Testament which is the most relevant one ? And there s so many bibles where do I start from
the new testement is how we are to live

the old testement is history until the new testement

Congratulations. Now one more person has a "Repeat after me" prayer to simply parrot.
Very unfortunate for you that you believe Romans 10:9-11 is not inspired by the Lord.

Maybe you should correct Him...

The New Testament is the most relevant... and, the best thing to do is start off by reading the Book of James.

It's not really long, it's easy to follow, and it covers major things the Lord wants His children to know.

Most people say to start by reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John which is good... but for a new believer those books are really long and may be hard to follow and understand in the beginning of your relationship with the Lord.

Starting off with the Book of James is foundational and covers things all believers should know.

The teachings and way of salvation of Jesus are contained in the New Testament.. So it is the most important part of the Bible for a new Christian to read..

I have always wondered about this.. I came to Christ from reading the Bible so i did read the gosepl of John but i cannot see why someone would not start at Matthew? I certainly would not neglect Matthew Mark and Luke..

Welcome to CC. I like the suggestion of reading the book of John first. I don't know if you ever been to one but try going to church and just see. I would suggest a protestant pentecostal church. Ask a church leader to pray for you that you want to convert to Christianity. However the most important thing in your life is that you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you profess his teaching. God Bless and happy you have converted to Jesus.

It's important that things be kept simple as to not overwhelm new believers.

And, all new believers should be aware that the enemy will do his best to choke God promises out of them in an attempt to get them to give up on being a Christian:

Mark 4:13-20
And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
The sower soweth the word.
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

These are the 5 things satan uses to choke God's promises out of a person's like if these things are allowed to enter in to their life... all Christians should know this cause Jesus just explained satan's game plan here.

1 Peter 5:8,9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith

I apologize for the others not letting you know what to do to get started...
I was gonna say ... here is someone willing to risk her family for Christ asking how, and I'm seeing a lot of unnecessarily abrasive off topic responses. If I'd asked the question and gotten these responses, I'd be gone. Way to welcome a new sister guys. Sorry Rubie for that experience, if you're still around.

Read the gospels. Read the New Testament, being 'new' it is the covenant we are now under. Read the Old, relating it to the New. Visit churches. For the first year don't commit anywhere, visit and get a taste of many. You can't make the right choice if you don't know your options, right? Personally I don't think any one denomination has all the answers. They each hold a part of the jigsaw puzzle and have to work together to put together the whole picture. Pray, talk to God, and listen ... judge what you 'hear' by what is in the Bible, it will take time but discernment grows with practice and as you learn to recognize your Father's voice.

You don't need to renounce Mohammed, you already know he's a non starter. Your family will be a tough one, the best you can do there is just live as an example of Jesus. Witness, not argument, is what woos them.

God bless you and give you strength and wisdom.

Hi I want to convert to Christianity but I do not know what to do or where to start from
I would suggest you pick up a Bible, start at the beginning, and read all the way through. I couple of helpful passages might be these:

[34] But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad'ducees, they came together.
[35] And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.
[36] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
[37] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great and first commandment.
[39] And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[40] On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." Matthew 22:34-40 Revised Standard Version

Pray constantly. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 RSV

Do you have a bible? If you don't have one on hand you can find on on the internet. I suggest that you learn about Jesus first and then try to establish a relationship to further your road to Chrisitanity.

Hi I want to convert to Christianity but I do not know what to do or where to start from
John 3:16 "For God so Loved the World, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting Life"

This is the foundation of christianity. Get alone and pray asking God to come into your heart and reveal the truth of Jesus to you. im no expert, but id say thats a great place to start, and then learn about Jesus in matthew, mark Luke and John in the Holy bible.

God bless you, follow the pull in your heart toward Jesus Christ. He has changed my life for the better in a thousand ways...oh and dont let the religious crowd push you away, its a personal thing, helps to find other believers that you can relate to :)
