Jesus was called names too .... People were rude to Him as well.... What did He "do"? He did not retaliate or ban anyone ... Instead... He healed the ear of the guard who put Him in chains... He told Peter " put away your sword!". Those who live by the sword , die by the sword.... what is there for a Christian to practice if we ban the very people Jesus loves ????
it was very wrong for people to call our Lord who is deserving of all praise and worship names but Jesus Himself called certain people names...namely the scribes and pharisees...he called them vipers and unwashed tombs..ofcourse they were deserving of being called that

It just seems that the better thing to do would be to have ignored unruly comments... Do we not become the very thing we don't like by doing it back?... I have fought most of my life .... Up against people who's hearts " I " had no control in changing... I have learned to pray for people in their struggles instead ... How does rejection draw people closer to God? God no longer rejects us ... He recieved us at our worst , I can say that from personal experience.. Who are we to be any different , if indeed Christ is truly in us?

Half, You keep marching towards the goal of knowing who christ is in your own personal "growing" relationship with Him... He wants all the glory of showing you who he is anyway... Let no one and no thing stand in the way of that.
Peace.

Bottom line is he came to the site with an antagonistic attitude. Lets take a walk through standard Trolling practices...
Pick a controversial name.
Start off by sounding friendly.
Start inserting vague insults in the name of being a 'victim' of religious people. This is where most people trip up and are conned into thinking he's just a poor innocent soul seeking God here on the site.
But he escalates his insults becoming more and more direct and attacking.
Banned.

So yeah, pretty much what happened with this guy. He was just a typical troll.

I am looking for something....good, evil.....love, hate....all I know is disappointment. People in my life who have made fun of me have gotten punched out. I haven't been to church in years because most ministers/preaches sound like used car salesmen. Not sure what I can believe anymore.
Good, evil, love, hate, disappointment, sounds like a book I read every day, a lot of that good stuff in there, lol... and Yeah, even Christians will let you down.

Thank you SO much, you just gave me hope, in everything you just posted, not just this one. I've got enough problems on my hands right now, and trying to enter into a spiritual relationship with God has been difficult for me, in the midst of all the earthbound stuff (Jesus was the easy part, but I had to struggle with issues from Old Testament readings, and deal with Christians who've already disappointed & upset me, far too early in my very new faith). Really, everything you posted helped alot, Michelle, and I'll have to try to remember what you said about looking at myself first, as well, in the long haul. I certainly don't want to lose the lesson you've already taught me. Some of the people on this thread genuinely spooked me, that's all.

LOL, thanks. This was an issue with others on this thread--it just frightened me, the tone of some of their posts. It just wasn't what I expected, right off the bat. People need to remember, some of us are actually very new in faith, and that can be scary.

I disagree with this one. If his intention was to troll he would've been in the bible discussion forum creating controversial threads to create discord. This guy didn't. I see this person as just one that was reaching out for help. His name certainly got our attention.

I was communicating with this guy by email and was unable to respond to his last one because someone reported him and now he's banned, which saddens me. He told me he tried the christian way several times but just goes back to who he is. We know that when we're saved we change. This is a man searching and struggling. He came here for a reason and not the one that so many were quick to accuse him of.

This thread has grieved me today.

We can't paint all with the same brush. Not all who come here with grieving hearts are trolls. What if a suicidal person came here with negativity... could this be the last place they visit? What would Jesus think if they were attacked?

I would love to see this person back on the site, we should welcome him because as he said in one of his posts, he came here to see what Christians chat about. He came here for a reason.

I don't blame some for putting a bit of a wall up because many 'religious' people have given a bad image of Christianity, making a person feel continually condemned when Christ came to set us free from the burdens of the world and the penalty of sin.

Not trying to get on your bad side 'ugly' just really didn't think this guy was a troll at all. The world lives in darkness and so we need to expect that they will behave differently when they don't know Jesus. It's expected.

I know an atheist who called me all kinds of names when he found out I was a Christian. He emailed me such abuse that I saw inside him all the sadness and hate. But I know that if he knew Jesus he would not have said these things... and there was a reason I know this person. While I was the victim of this abuse I'm the Christian that's in contact with him...one of us has the truth and the other doesn't. What a great situation to be in.

We're not of this world, we need to help those that are stuck in it with all it's evils and deceptions, leading them to the only one that can save them from the darkness.... JESUS :)

Empathizing with him now will only harden his heart more toward God.
Your coddling him will only drive him away further.
He came on this site to spit retribution against - "the god who done him wrong".
God is serious.
If you want to coddle him that's a mistake.
I'm trying to snap him back into reality.
I completely disagree. Condemning him, pointing the finger, is what will harden his heart more.

How did you know his reasons for being here? Did you even ask him or did you just assume he was a troll like everyone else?

Those who don't know Jesus are in darkness and will behave like the world does. So what are you expecting? Before my mother was saved she hated Christians. She was like Saul and had a conversion just like him! Saul's conversion here --> Acts 9 NKJV - The Damascus Road: Saul Converted - Bible Gateway

Tough love may work with believers who are already in the body, but not someone that comes here burdened with the evils of the world - you want to make them feel even worse? They need love not hate. Hate is of the world.

Is this something Jesus would do?

Luke 18:10-14: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Mark 2:17: "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

If you dont want the advice(preaching) then how else should we respond, a lot of us are in debt, jobless, homeless, and struggle with fear and anxieties, but the way "we" deal with it is by praising God, reading the bible, praying, believing in Jesus, let me tell you something if God gives you every single thing you want then when is there going to be any room for him.

if someone opposes our Lord and His followers privately and hurls unwarranted insults whether subtly or overtly at the then that can be dealt with far more leniently than when someone is publicly attacking the name and followers of Jesus..public behaviour is often copied and so why have someone destroy those of a weaker faith by allowing Christ to be publicly treated with contempt on a christian site?
