As a cc newbie I would like to receive from all those not so new, and old your insight regarding the best way to put yourself 'out there". Or in other words, when you hear a debate/conversation/argument on religion do you interject or do you simply allow them to carry on even if they do sound ridiculous? It seems I have found myself surrounded by atheists and agnostics in school that just seem to love to bash all things Christianity. Oh, also, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. :]

Hi, from a fellow newbie.

My advice on the "argumentative" side, it will never end will. Even a debate, unless you are well prepared, will not either. This my philosophy. "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words. - Francis of Assisi" Only the Holy Spirit can ready people's heart for the Word, not a debate. It only furthers their opinion that Christianity isn't for them.

That is how I deal with it. This might not work for you. And to clarify, I am not a wallflower by any means. I just don't preach loudly to people who aren't ready to hear it.

Right. I'm not the type of person who interjects, I simply listen because I know my limits. I know that if I do interject things will get heated. But I have been pondering whether or not silence is the best way to go. I think this generation needs to hear from their own generation a different point of view instead of those who simply nod their heads and agree.

I'm not saying I nod my head and agree. I'm saying actions speak louder than words. People are tired of being preached at. People are tired of hearing sermons. We have heard sermons till they are spilling out of our foreheads. But there is little action to back it up. I believe until the action backs it up, the words are useless.

If you feel lead to speak up, they you should. But only if you feel lead. But remember, arguing never really got people anywhere. Paul was an apologetic, not a debater.

I know, I know. I don't plan on being the next Johnathan Edwards or anything but from what I hear around me, they don't know Christianity, simply what they have heard. Also, they all know I'm Christian yet they have their debates around me and It's just so tempting to intervene.
