Welcome to the site, Amarok! I must say that the most important thing about the Christian religion is that we aren't rescued from Hell by anything that we do for God. It's what He has done for us! He sent His only begotten Son Jesus to Earth to die for our sins, because we could not save ourselves. We can't be good enough to get into heaven, we must accept the death of Jesus as the payment for our sins. That's why we often say that being a Christian isn't about following a religion, really, it's about having a wonderful relationship with God! He becomes our Father when we accept Jesus as our Savior from sins
