Hey everyone,

I have a few things in my room (such as perfume and accessories) designed by celebrities Britney Spears and Katy Perry.

I was just wondering, would it be a sin to keep them? The items in particular don't promote or say anything sinful on them... But, I figured since Katy Perry is known for her sexually immoral lyrics, I'm not sure if it's okay to keep anything designed by her...

Would this verse from 2 Corinthians apply in this situation?:
Therefore, come out from among unbelievers,
and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
Don’t touch their filthy things,
and I will welcome you.

My fear is that God might curse me or withhold blessings from me if I decide to keep them. But I could be wrong. I don't want to throw away anything if it's not sinful to keep them. Most of them were given to me as gifts so they have sentimental value - That's why I hesitate to throw them away.

What do you guys think?

Thank you all in advance and God bless!

First of all, welcome to CC. :) Second, this is the Introductions forum. Your OP is more appropriate for the Family forum. But anyhoo, no it's not a sin to keep them. It's perfume. :) As long as you don't pray to them or worship them, you're good.

Although, Katy Perry is a satanist, so you may want to rethink anything made by her. Most celebrities are satanists..

Welcome here you can discuss with bible smart people and possibly make new friends, hope you like it here!
Also it's always good to think on what may be wrong concerning possessions but it's not necessarily of consequence only if...
1.they don't get in the way of you serving God.
2.you don't worship the possessions.

This is an entirely unbiblical idea. This sounds more like superstition than anything about God. The only difference between perfumes with celeb names attached to them and those that don't is you're more aware of the celebs sins. Likely nearly all fragrances are made people that are not saved. You have no idea what the people who design, manufacture, market, produce, etc... believe or how they live.
Same goes with your clothes, car, where you live, the food you eat, etc... nearly everything we buy and use is made by non-christians with a wide spectrum of beliefs and lifestyles. Just because someone a celeb doesn't make it any different.

Do you have any contextual NT scriptures showing God cursing people or withholding blessings?

I see things like this as a tool the enemy uses to distract us and cause us to live in fear. An ignorance of God's contextual word only makes this easier. All too often people develop their own ideas and assume it's truth.
As a teen i formed this idea that if I sinned while listening to Christian music that was proof the artist wasn't Christian, otherwise God's spirit in the music would've stopped me .
Not a single biblical element to that. I just created that out if thin air because it "made sense" to me. Since then I have learned more about the truth of these matters and, of course, stopped believing it. But it's that easy to fall into a wrong belief. And if we don't know and understand God's word properly we can expect to continue these mistakes.
