Hello Katy, I am new here too and have just discovered this thread while having a browse. I truly feel for you here as a relative suffered something very similar not so long ago. Although you are a stranger to me, I am happy to send you some funds for the short term. It’s not as easy as people think to raise money quickly. I’m not sure how this place works just yet but being Christian focussed, I am sure that it won’t object to giving to those in need. Do you have PayPal? That is probably the best way for me to help you. If others read this thread then I hope it encourages them to do the same for you or someone else in need. For the cost of $20 you can change someone’s day! Get in touch Katy!

This is such a very kind gesture but I am reluctant to accept charity. I’m also not even sure how I would receive it if I was. There are some very empathetic and generous people in this world. You have restored my faith that people are all, at their core, designed to care for each other.

Thank you for your prayers gb9. Danny, I have failed at every turn to raise money to help my family; things are now desperate. My PayPal is [email protected]. I feel so ashamed at accepting charity. Please provide me with your details as I will 100% be paying you back when I am back on my feet.

It’s rented Lucy; my husband’s chronically poor credit score prevented us from ever getting on the housing ladder. Why do you ask?

I am wondering if you can apply for housing benefit? If there are children involved you may be able to claim something.

Yes, I’m sure that in the long term I will have to utilise this type of support. I’ve paid in to the system for 18 years so now will have to see if it can help me out now. Thanks for your support and advice.

I am sorry to hear about your problem, your not the only one going through this, Infact this isn't the first time I have heard of a guy gambling away money like that. Let me assure you no respectable Christian would ever do that, In fact I don't believe anyone respectable would ever gamble. Unfortuantly, that is not his light, he is walking in darkness.

He may not be aware he has a gambling addiction. It sounds like your more in the light than he is, you know there is a problem that needs fixing, he doesn't.

Here is what you should do.
1. Talk to his Pastor,
2. Make him go to gamblers annonymous.
3. Get his friends and family to hold an intervention for him.

It may not fix every thing right away, but it may help your husband realize there is a problem.
It may take time to fix this problem.

I have just discovered that I literally have no money in the world; my husband has gambled the lot. I am left with absolutely nothing, no means to get to work, no means to get food and no family or friends to turn to. He has also destroyed my credit rating making it impossible for me to get a loan. I’m not a religious person but in my panic to search for help online I came across this site. If there is a god then please could you say a prayer to him for me. Is this His way of turning me to His light. I feel so in the dark right now!

I am so sorry about the situation that you are now in. It is impossible for an outsider to understand a person's situation unless he is standing in that person's shoes.

First, if you have not done it already, sit down with a bank official where you have an account and cancel every joint ownership account you have with your husband immediately. You may become personally Iiable for any activity by your husband on a joint account like his bad checks, etc.

You may want to find out if you could get some legal advice through your social services like a solicitor with little or no charge. Child care if needed could be arranged through social services as well as food stamps (discounts on food purchased at food stores).

All of this will be difficult, Katy, you can do it.....and every night talk to God before going to bed. He is our Father.

Katy, Best Wishes!

This is the time to develop an intimate relationship with the lord. There is always a turning points for everyone - and I think God is about to show himself to you like like you never knew.So stay calm and start by giving your life to christ then go for the word of God I bet you will find comfort and strength to confront the future.
