Yeah parents don't mind it more than you think either. Gives them purpose hehe so really you're doing them a favour in the grand scheme of things./QUOTE]

He said something that kinda shook me last night. In the no foul language version of it, he said a lot of people would be struggling if he were dead. Which is true. I'd be on the streets. My mom has her own financial problems and just came over last night to get money from him to pay her rent. He might not have a problem with it, and he's always said he doesn't mind helping me out, but I can't continue relying on him every single time. I've gotta do it on my own at some point.

Poppycock! For starters, that is a terrible thing to say. The Lord rebuke him for that!

He shouldn't be saying things like that to you and putting that extra weight on your shoulders.

He wants to give you money but he also wants to use that as a way to have a dig at you.

You should not accept his money and trust that God will provide it in other ways.

Ways that you do not have to feel bad about taking.

As if you don't have enough to think about at your age anyway!

Sounds like he is trying to put some sort of guilt burden on you unnecessarily.

Remember what I said about how things work themselves out in the end?

The same would apply here. It's cold but you would simply find the help somewhere else.

You will sort yourself out. You will find a good job. You will become fully dependent on yourself and you will not have to rely on anyone.

Just keep giving thanks to God for EVERYTHING like I said. Thank Him for all that you have. Thank Him for the things you don't have! Thank Him for EVERYTHING. Even the bad things! Yes, even the bad things in your life. Give God thanks for them. Because it is God that ultimately is in control and these things are sent to test us.

But above all, don't worry! Nobody can add a single minute to their life by worrying.

God even said to us do not fear.

God is working in your life right now.

He WILL provide for you because He cares for you.

You WILL get through this and come out the other side a better person for it.

I just know it. :)

I don't know when He will provide, though. It's ten months now that I've owed my school for last year's tuition. 2500 dollars worth. I keep getting a bill from them. I understand they want it paid. I'm thankful they let me finish my final school year even though I was short the money. But my credit is suffering because of it. My school loans are being applied to go into forebearance. It's kinda hard not to worry and be fed up with everything because my future is cloudy and my debt continue to goes on. Today's sermon kinda renhanced my belief that maybe I'm not supposed to work. And my situation is the way it should be. My self esteem is crumbled and I'm in empty so I don't even know why an employer would want someone like that in his/her business in the first place.

I hear you. It's easy to say things like "stay positive" from an outsiders perspective looking in. But its different when its actually happening to you and things seem bleak.

But through it all, you mustn't let it get you down. Life will always throw things at you that can get you down.

Even when you are working and debt free, life will still through you the occasional hurdle.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

All of the things happening in your life right now, were put there by God to test your faith.

Right now you have the chance to either let it beat you or you can use it to grow stronger in God.

I don't know where you got this belief that you are not supposed to work.

Everyone is supposed to work.

You are right though, your situation is how it should be because it is God that caused it to be like that.

He hasn't caused it to happen to punish you. God doesn't punish. He has done it because He cares for you.

He wants you to give Him thanks for it. He is waiting for your thanks right now.

He wants to bless you with a good job and a long and happy life.

And why wouldn't someone employ you?

Doesn't everyone get down and upset at some point?

You cannot think that way.

Proverbs 23:7 For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he:

Think positively and positive things will happen to you.
Think negatively and negative things will happen to you.

The saying "Positive things happen to positive people" is true. They do.

If you was working it would be a different matter. You would start finding self confidence and self esteem would come about because you are working.

You WILL get there. You WILL find a job. And it will happen in Gods time not your own.

So if you didn't get that job you just went for an interview for and spent all week preparing for. Give God thanks for that.

You have a lot of debt. Give God thanks for that.

Your self esteem is crumbling around you. Give God thanks for that.

Just keep thanking Him for ALL things in prayer.

Give thanks to Him for every breath of air you breath.

Because God is in control and He will come through for you because it is written.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You ARE going to get through this. And you WILL come out of it a better, more faithful person for it.

I want you to say that outloud. And I want you to keep repeating it outloud throughout the day.
Do not let satan and his minions try to choke you with the worries of this world.

The things of this world will pass away. But your faith will keep you forever.

Keep your eyes on the prize (Jesus) and give Him thanks and praise.

Then you will start to see Him working in your life.

You can do it! :)

Give thanks to God in all things..even your present time of hardship. Keep a positive mindset and a good attitude. Also remember that God intends good things for you, and he's in control, so you need to be patient..easier said than done, believe me..lol..

Good word.
I call this time of testing my robot mode.
I look away to Jesus and just stare. At the same time I put one foot in front of the other and take a step, stop, look at Jesus, hold my gaze and my face to heaven, and reject all that is not from God. the world be damned.

This remedy has never failed to cruise me out of every single valley and demon attack.

Thank you all again for the prayers and words of wisdom. I understand what you all are saying. Like mentioned already, easier said than done. A question, though. No employers are giving me feedback on what I can work on. Whether it's in the interview. Or resume. What do I do when it comes to convincing employers I'm the right person for the job? Every person asks "Why do you want to work for me?". I've been honest and said I just want to work. As you can see, I wasn't hired. So any insights into the interviewing process would be highly appreciated, as I'm sure a lot of you have stories about it. If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different, then besides giving it to God, what do I need to do? And in a situation like this, what does it mean to give it to God? Cause it's not like I can stay in bed all day. I do have to physically be out there. Thank you for any future feedback.

God might want you to push your hopes higher and actually pick some job you like doing? So when they ask you this, you can honestly reply that this is something you really enjoy and have fun doing and maybe also read about it in spare time because it interests you.

Years ago I purchased and studied a book called 'Interviews For Dummies'. I am sure that it is still in bookstores. It is easy to read and offers a lot of insight on the interview process. I am not sure what it means, like you say, to give it to God. He understands your situation and will not forsake you. Employers take it for granted that you want a job. Next time you are asked why you want to work for them tell them that you want to play your part to become a profit center in their operation.

I had an interview once years ago with Walt Disney World once and was asked that question and I gave the answer that you did. The woman who was interviewing me said that she did not give a crap about what I wanted for myself but only what I had to offer to the company. I did not get the job but the experience was invaluable.

Treat the interview like a small role in a play and not like it is a life or death situation. Everything can be a valuable learning experience with the correct attitude.

Thank you for that. I've been scolded by previous employers for calling each day. I've been told things like "I told you we'd let you know." Most often, they never let me know. I have to get it out of them. While I'm doing all this, what does it mean to hand it over to God, though? This situation is going to be in His hands. I still have to do my part, though. What does that situation look like?

I really agree with popeye here.
You need to be EXTREMELY PROACTIVE.

I'm not sure about calling them everyday... that really depends on what the company will tolerate.
- If they said, "you don't need to call us back, we'll call you"... I'd call them back anyway.
- If they said, "DO NOT CALL US" I'd probably leave them alone, lol.

But you should definitely be proactive, and assertive.
Do your homework.
It works.

Doing everything the best possible way still doesn't "guarantee" a job,
but doing things the best way is going to yield better results.

So while I am proactive in doing this, how do I put God first and make sure I don't fall into putting a job before Him or idolizing work?

Well, to start with, you sorta need to HAVE a job before those other things are really issues.
: )

You could also pray something like this,
"God, if this is NOT the job you want me to have, please close the door for me."

God may let us go through difficult times.
But He knows we need to eat.

I think that you are over analyzing this. Before you can put a job before God you have to get a job first.

I was told I have been stressing way too much over this (which I admit) and I might be idolizing work and putting it above my relationship with God. Which is why I asked.
